While the RealPolice.net forums has always had and still maintains free membership to all interested in joining, a common theme we've seen here with questions posed by authors and screenwriters is a lack of desire on the part of our Verified LEO membership to serve as "free technical experts" to aspiring writers. The truth is it's very unlikely that cops join this site to answer a never-ending flow of technical/procedural questions about our career field from writers. As a means to remedy this - for the RP LEO membership answering questions and the writers seeking to learn more for their books/screenplays/etc - one recommendation is to make a small donation to benefit the site by becoming a Supporting Member (click here for details). This is not a mandatory requirement for posting here, but is highly encouraged, as becoming a Supporting Member is an inexpensive way to show your support for the continuation of this site and will likely inspire longtime Verified LEO membership (who have put time and effort into making this site what it is) to be more supportive in answering questions from those seeking to personally profit from the information gained.
NOTE: Questions regarding specific law enforcement tactics (i.e. specifics regarding law enforcement sensitive investigative techniques, tactical maneuvers to ensure officer safety to high risk situations, or any other information deemed Law Enforcement Sensitive) is not discussed in the forums available to the general public. Questions asked that are of this nature will result in the thread being closed, not to publicly embarrass the original poster, but to maintain the integrity of information that is not for public discussion. Please be mindful of this prior to asking questions for your book/screenplay.
