A reminder to always be alert when driving...

This is rather lengthy but interesting. Alot of the accidents on there could have been avoided by people with a green light taking extra few seconds to make sure no traffic is coming before proceeding. Personally, I always do this. Not blaming them by any means, but one thing you learn doing a lot of traffic enforcement is always assume the other drivers are morons.

Yep. Learned that a long, long time ago. The best advice my Dad ever gave me when teaching me to drive was to drive like everyone else is a complete idiot. That philosophy has served me well.

Especially with the invention of the cell phone. The cell phone turns decent drivers into morons.

I have developed a policy since we have no cell phone laws. If you roll a stop sign while using your phone or texting it's a guaranteed ticket. Same for other violations.

Yeah, I don't understand it. I wonder how it is people can talk to someone sitting beside them and drive just fine. But if they're talking to someone on the phone, they zone out?

A few years ago, I followed some guy in a BMW who was talking on his cell phone. He went through 3 or 4 stop signs without even looking either way. He was so wrapped up in his conversation that he was oblivious to the whole world. Oregon just passed a cell phone law requiring hands free devices, which is dumb. Studies have shown they are no safer than when the cell phone is handheld. I guess taking them away would be too friggin' traumatic for people.......

I notice it alot with women. Seems like any female from 16 to about 60 must have the phone attached to their ear when they get in the car.

Yep, I was walking my dog last fall one morning by an elementary school. I was watching the young women leaving the parking lot after dropping off their kids. I counted 5 cars leaving and of those, four were on their cell phones as they pulled out onto the street. What was scary to me was there were little kids all over the place walking to school and I doubt these women were paying much attention to anything other than that damned important phone call.
