Oh , I see. This makes it perfectly legit too. Just like I can fire a gun in the city as long as no ones in the way.

You deserved the $500 or however much you would have been fined for doing it (if not going to jail as well.) Trying to get out of well deserved punishment by striking up a conversation about "my plans in L.E." shows a lot of immaturity, I highly suggest you get rid of that line of thinking. And no, its not "all good".

I got caught doing 40 in a 30 back in 1987. I was going down University Ave. in Champaign, IL (One Way street) and the limit was 30. The only sign posted was at the beginning of the Ave. and it was hidden behind a tree branch. The limit on the two way streets was 35. I was late for a class and figured I'd get by at 5 over. But I got a ticket for 10 over because I didn't see the sign. Went into court and was going to try and explain about the branch covered sign, but all these people ahead of me were giving excuses why they were speeding and I could see that the judge was getting pissed. All the fines were running over $100 and I knew no matter how legitimate my excuse, it wasn't gonna cut it.
So, when it was my turn and the judge asked me what my plea was, I said, "Guilty your honor, and I'm requesting mercy from the court." A very, very slight smile came on his face, then he fined me $10 and I was on my way.

Fastest ever driven: 145/70mph in the UK. In the US I once tried to catch up to a hit/run car to get it's plate for the police, but when I got to 120 (freeway) I thought better of it. There was no other traffic, but still... As much as it sucked for the victim of the hit/run, it would serve nobody's best interests to cause a new accident trying to get a license #.
Caught 2x in 13 years: 81/65, 51/35.
These days I do freeways at 74/65mph. It seems to best the best compromise between the law and the prevailing traffic speed of about 80-85mph.
Just 2 nights ago....64 in a 30 and he also got another ticket for One Wheel...yes a crotch rocket. He told me that he had just traded for this bike, as it was slower than his last one, and if he would of been on it, he would of been closer to 100. P.S. Dad's a retired LEO
My brother has been on the job for 6 years now and has always been into speeding... and has owned many fast cars. I was in his mustang GT, that had a lot of work done to it. A trooper was on an exit ramp at 3 am on the Long Island Expressway and my brother was thinking that maybe the hoss would just want to keep going his own way and not get involved, but those Nassua County Troopers are hard core I guess! lol We were crusing at 160 for the next mile before my brother saw the lights and pulled over. The trooper scrutinized my brother's NYPD ID and really was acting like he thought my brother may have had fake creds. Upon realization that he was not going to write any tickets and that my brother was really a PO, and (soon finding out that my pops is a Dep. Inspector), he just bs'd about all the work my brother had done on the car and told my brother of the spots up ahead where guys were running radar.
My brother has been caught at many speeds above 125, and although (before he was on the job) my father would have never gotten him out of a ticket, he did have my father's mini badge... so he was never banged.
I on the other hand.... have been stopped at most for a mere 79 in a 55 (I am an NYPD Au and NYPD cadet... along with pop's and bro's mini badge) so I have never been written up.
A buddy of mine was written up for the following:
1) no seatbelt
2) wreckless driving
3) lane change w/o signal
4) illegal tins
5) illegal covering of Liscence plate
6) obstruction of view (2 seperate tickets)
8) 103 in a 65
...this was on the NY thruway.... yeah, he got banged pretty damn good!
