I was just reading the other thread about "lowering speed" and the thought came up. I've pulled several people over in the past and they say they're from "so and so state where they are allowed to see radar upon request." They get pissed when I tell them they're not gettin out of the vehicle.
We have no state laws in TN that requires us to show the radar to someone requesting it. I've had other traffic officers from the city PD stating that there are no laws that require officers to display radar.
Do you folks have any laws in your state or is it more of an agency policy?

Yeah I rarely get a person to ask to see the radar. A bunch of our cars have older radars that do not have the third window that locks the speed. So in Michigan their is no requirement.

as much as i like hearing that whole showing the radar bit, i love even more to hear, "my radar detector never went off so you can't ticket me." laser is the best.

Here in CA, the police officers aren't required to show the speeders the read-out from radar guns. Pity to the drivers, they sped because they dunno what they're doing or they didn't have their speedometers calibrated... :D I love to see the cops giving out speeding tickets to the drivers. It's cute to see the unhappy or angry expressions of the drivers, while officers walk patiently and smile to their happy, waiting cruisers.
One thing. That words of the drivers are the same ol' excuses, they learned off from either internets, "How To Get Out of The Tickets for Dummies" books (not real, my guessing), or from mouths.... phhft! to the drivers.Last edited by Whitewolf1970; 08-13-04 at 10:34 AM.

I'm guessing this rumor among the driving public is probably coming from some dumbass attorney. Just another hanging on their part just the same as advising their clients "not to blow." They'll never learn. :rolleyes:
