I loved having girls. They did all the stuff with me (camping, fishing, etc) that boys do with their Dads. And even as teenagers, girls always think it's cool to hang out with Dad. I still have a great relationship with my daughters.

To many men, IMO put too much pressure on their sons to do just that, follow in their footsteps. I've noticed over the years that the Dads and their oldest sons often don't get along, probably because of that. I had a great relationship with my Dad, but my older brother and my Dad never got along that well. Seen that in lotsa families.

I was a big fan of the Steelers back in the late 70's. Mean Joe Green, Jack Lambert et al were incredible!

Lambert had all daughters. Can you imagine going to pick up one of his daughters for a date and have him answer the front door!!!! Joe Green spit in **** Butkus's face in one game. And it was said that Butkus held up the tops of his socks with thumbtacks! Those guys were my heroes...
Troy is a freak, I don't mean that negatively either. He definitely has a special gift in his athletic ability.

His daughters are probably still single to this day lol

I agree. I know alot of cops who do this job because their fathers did. Not sure that's the best reason. My dad is an auto mechanic and always said "DO NOT be a mechanic!" Once he opened his own shop and I hung around there I saw why. Tons of headaches. I like them, but I definitely wouldnt want to fix them, especially these new ones.

My Dad was a farmer/laborer and wanted us to be much more, but he rode my brother over just about everything and pretty much left me alone. The more he pushed my brother, the more my brother rebelled so there was a vicious spiral. But even as adults, their relationship was different from mine with my Dad. Interestingly enough, my Dad was the oldest son and my aunts told me that he and his Dad had the same problems. Imagine my surprise when my aunt told me told that my Dad used to ride a Harley and tore up that little Texas town! And much to his Dad's chagrin. Then the same thing more or less played out with him and my brother.

I see some of this with my grandsons and their Dads too. One son in law was big into team sports and pushes his son to do the same and the kid couldn't care less about them. My grandson prefers individual sports such as wrestling, but doesn't care for team stuff. Drives his Dad crazy. Fortunately, my daughter is strong enough to stand up to him and make him back off the kid now and then.

Back on the subject, I admire any NFL linemen or line backers. I think it was Jim Otto that said it's like being in car wreck every 25 seconds and I believe it. And the fact some do it for over 10 years is amazing to me.

DITTO my dad truly is one of my very best friends!! I also grew up hunting fishing in the woods with my dad, I will have to be admitted if or when something happens to him.

Greg, I actually felt a little sorry for you after the game, but I got over it fairly quick.

Oh, so that's what that feeling was after the game... I thought I just had gas!
