    Wal-Mart Asset Protection Coordinator

I'm currently being promoted into the position of APC (Asset Protection Coordinator) and am a bit curious as to what the job entails. What is going to be my day to day functions? What is starting salary for a person like me with little experience, but a 2 year associates degree in Criminal Justice? What is a normal work schedule for this position? Is there a lot of traveling involved? Just kind of curious and would like a general over view if someone would be willing. Thanks to anyone who responds in advance!

Did Wal*Mart AP in 97-98. Longets 8 months of my life. Get out while you can.....and work for a company that cares more about the employeee and theft than just "get me tow a month" working alone.

Uh, you're the one working for Wal-mart. Aren't YOU in a better position to know what the position you're getting promoted into curtails? If you haven't noticed the forum names is, "Real Police", NOT "Real Wal-mart Job Information". You work for Wal-mart, so ask Wal-mart.

Yes, I've realized what the forum name is. Obviously, however, you have failed to realize the name of this specific forum, which happens to be Security Officers/Loss Prevention.

To further humiliate you, I will now state the fact that Wal-Mart Asset Protection is just another name for Loss Prevention. So, I'm in the right forum. Furthermore, if you did not have any useful information for me, which it is painfully obvious that you did not, you probably should of just kept your mouth shut and moved on to another guy to attempt to humiliate and belittle.

    Thanks.

As for Joeyd, I appreciate your truthful and useful response. Did you do just asset protection in an hourly position? I have heard that is not fun at all. However, I will be in the asset protection management, AKA Asset Protection Coordinator. Just curious as to if that is what you are referring to, or if you are referring to the hourly AP position.

    Thanks.

I can't claim to be Joeyd, he's a few tiers above me in awesomeness, but I do know a handful of folks who've worked for Wal-Mart in various positions (to include loss prevention) and none had good things to say about the company except one (and he was an old guy who was a greeter at the door who also had a retirement pension paying his bills). I'm assuming since you're being promoted that you're already a store-level employee of Wal-Mart, so you're probably used to the terrible benefits they offer and may be able to live with them, so this job may be a decent fit for you. If you enjoy the store you're at and it's a promotion, might be worth giving a shot.

Every store has a APC...I was one. Most stores, the APC is the ONLY AP guy in the store. It is no "management" and a fancy title.

As for the rest of your questions and answers......we need to address something first:

You came here and stated you worked for Wal*Mart and then proclaim you took a promotion and asked questions to us, police officers, about things that you should have asked in a job interview for the position. You should have known the answers before you accepted this job. Somebody points out this fact to you and instead of replaying like a mature and intelligent person, you pop off like a 12 year old. Far from management material. Not even in the ball park of how a asset protection guy should be acting with the police. Maybe they didn't teach you in school, but if you want to play with us, you need to think before you speak, have a thick skin, and know when to keep your mouth shut. You should take some advice off your own post.

You are going to be dealing with the police daily. You have the same attitude with your locals at the store, and the response you got here will be a sample of what you are in for. You don't like a post on here, be mature and address such like an adult.

When you apologize to Big Sexy....either here or in a PM AND edit your post to a respectful manner, we can continue this conversation and I will answer your questions.

Sorry, I won't be apologizing as one is not warranted in this situation. His demeanor and attitude towards me was absolutely disrespectful, so one who treats people with disrespect SHOULD NOT be respected in return. Ever heard the saying "In order to earn respect, you must give respect?" He obviously showed NO respect towards me, so apologizing is just plain out silly and I'll go ahead and pack up my bags and ask my questions elsewhere on 1 of the 1,492,244,525 forums out there about security/lp/ap/etc.

    Good day sir.

I know the answer to your questions, but with your attitude I won't be telling you. Have a nice day.
