I found this site through another forum while looking for information about becoming a Federal Air Marshal. I'm 26 y.o., FINALLY graduating with my bachelor's degree in 2 months, and currently work for an architecture firm as a business manager. I look forward to this forum, and getting to know everyone here, and of course, learn!

I know a lot of good people who are or were FAMs, but haven't met but just a few who were happy doing the job for more than a few years. If you don't mind me asking, why leave a likely lucrative job in architecture to constantly fly and be away from home?

I'm just a business manager, I don't draw bunches of random colored lines with the computer machine and call it a building. HA!
I'm starting to look for a new job now, because odds are I won't have this job by this time next year. My firm does work with DHS/CBP and I was talking to a CBP agent who was telling me about FAMs, and I figured it was worth looking into. From what I've seen so far, I'm interested. I figure, I'm still single with no prospects, not making a lot of money here, don't have a really good reason to stay in the area, I want to serve my country somehow, and I really don't mind flying and being put into situations that make most people insane, if that makes sense. I'm just trying to get as much info about it now as I can.

In that case, best of luck. FAMS is probably a better life for the single man than one with a family. If you like it, great. If not, it's still federal law enforcement, so it will open doors to you.
