We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
Here's an update on another case.
Officer charged in son's fatal shooting with service weapon
This one gives me chills and is very tragic. Kid used a chair to access the shelf in bedroom closet.

See with that i really don't agree with the charges is'nt bad enough he just lost his kid now he lost his life his career, he had in a closet not laying on a counter. like the last case it was just laying on a table atleast he ATTEMPTED to put it where it would'nt be reached...very sad
Life is too short to be afraid of inanimate objects.Guns just scare me and I know they have to be respected and not just thrown down but that still does'nt change my fear of them they give me anxiety...
Perhaps it would be wiser to face your fear and overcome the irrational anxiety you feel towards a simple tool? I believe you can achieve this through training and experience, that you obviously have not had the opportunity of obtaining. Firearms, like cars, knives, and EVERY other tool, are as safe as WE make them, and to fear them is just plain silly.
Look into some NRA classes, or check out some USPSA or IDPA clubs in your area. A very popular venue for many is the SASS community, which competes with "old west" types of firearms, is very family friendly, and who's members dress up in "old west" clothing. As a young lad, I would have LOVED that "old west" stuff.
Humans probably initially feared fire, however, they evolved and learned it could be as much of an asset as it could be a threat.
Evolve. Conquer your fear.
VERY VERY good point! I am not afraid of the gun itself persay but more so of the damage it can cause if used on a person ( taking care of MANY failed suicide cases) taking care of the aftermath ( the wounds, missing faces , eye sockets, mouth etc....) I think has increased this fear if that makes sense...it is a image as well as many of you know you never forget.
my * true* fears are heights and closed in places... I would NEVER jump off a building or allow myself to be locked in a closet, I would shoot a gun.

Is it fear of heights or fear of the edges? I hate being near the edge of a roof or ledges. Don't want to be anywhere near it. But I don't mind being in airplanes or actually on the roof or ladders. I don't have any problem with guns.
If you do go shooting and have never been, you are going to jump at every shot initially. That will go away with time so don't mistake the jumpiness with a in built anxiety.

Ummm not sure...... if I climb a ladder I get physically sick I start shaking etc... I hate the " out of control"
feeling....but I have hiked up a mountain and peered over the edge? and found it to be fascinating...weird I know.
i am nowhere near as bad as i used to be with the height thing, the closed in places that's differant though... I hate it.I can't even sleep with my head under the covers..... nor do I want to be buried under the ground when I die.
