Juan Williams Firestorm

Never thought it possible, but liberals have managed to over-reach with so much political correctness on the Juan Williams fiasco that it may very well finally boomerang right back into their faces, the way a taut rubberband quickly snaps right back. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed it does.

Juan Williams is a liberal journalist and commentator on Fox that for years has provided the counterbalance to conservative commentary on the network. I almost never agree with anything he says.... he has a tried and true liberal outlook on everything.... but I always enjoy listening to him because he calls things like he sees them. Always. He is a guy of unquestionable integrity.

If you haven't heard the background yet, in a discussion with Bill O'Reilly on Monday about the first firestorm over Bill's statement on "The View" that "Muslims attacked us on 9/11," Juan Williams spent most of the time defending Muslims and positing that although Bill's statement was true, it would help the current state of tension to add the adjective "Extremist" when making that statement in the future, lest it cast a shadow on an entire group of people. (Of course my question continues to be: Were the people who attacked us on 9/11 Muslims or not. Yes or no.)

But in making his case, Williams started off his defense of Muslims by admitting he himself DID feel uncomfortable in the airport when getting ready to board a plane and seeing people in Muslim garb...and he admitted he had to be honest that it did make him a little nervous...but then proceeded to make the case on behalf of Muslims for the other 95% of the show. Two days later NPR fired him saying it was a bigoted comment.

What torks me off beyond belief is that NPR and their parent company, PBS, have always been left wing and have always been the only outlets getting funding from Congress. Now that they've shown their hypocritical, left-wing, loony bias by saying one of their own lefties wasn't left enough, I sure hope the people of this country put so much pressure on Congress that these #$%@^$#@$& never get taxpayer funding again.

I'm hearing there are calls on Congress to investigate this. NPR may have had a legal right to fire him, but I've got to believe it was one of the dumbest political moves known to man, because it drips with so much hypocricy. If nothing else, this should put yet another nail in the coffin of these PC idiots, and I hope to goodness this is used by the sane people of this country to send the signal enough is enough.

If he had said " Bill, you know when I am in East Tx I will admit I am nervous with the kkk presence" Would he have been fired then? Why is it that so far Jesse Jackson and the AFLCIO hasn't come foward? IMO they are late to the party...

In reality, it wasn't the smartest thing to say on the air, but I think he was canned more for his continued appearance on Fox News than that particular remark. The left media views Fox News the same way Iran views Israel, they believe that it has no right to exist.

I agree there's a whole lot more to it. But if this doesn't make George Soros-type liberals lose enormous credibility, I don't know what will. Actually the response in the media and polls has been overwhelmingly against NPR. Even liberals in the press are running to Williams' defense. Lovin' it.

According to this five year old report, NPR gets about 15% of its money from federal funding.

If it gets 85% of it's money from contributors, it's odd that it continues where Air America failed miserably when it tried to operate off of the same source of revenue. Soros gave NPR 1.8 million, but that's really a drop in the bucket considering their total operating budget.

If it gets 85% of it's money from contributors, it's odd that it continues where Air America failed miserably when it tried to operate off of the same source of revenue. Soros gave NPR 1.8 million, but that's really a drop in the bucket considering their total operating budget.

They need to get not one penny from federal funding. According to the news today, even a lot of liberals are threatening to cut off private donations from NPR. Good for them.

She's another liberal I really enjoy watching as the counterbalance to conservatives on Fox's Sunday morning show. She and Williams are the consummate professionals. I don't think NPR is gonna eff with her now.
