Ex Illinois Gov. George Ryan commuted the sentences of all of the state's death row inmates after a group of journalism students at Northwestern began looking into the case of Anthony Porter in the late 1990s.

The students, working with their professor and a private investigator, found evidence that cleared Porter after 17 years on death row. Ryan then vowed he would do whatever it took to "prevent another Anthony Porter."

Is it possible that a percentage of the US population have been falsey accused and wrongly sentanced? If so what could be done about it?

Have you ever had your freedom on the line because of fraudulent law enforcement?

I'll try and link the sources but there were incidents of beating confessions out of some of the death row inmates. Remember the Central Park rape case where the kids were sentanced to around 20 years or so then 17 years later the real rapist comes forward takes a DNA sample and turns out the kids that have been in prison for 17 years are set free? I think the numbers of innocent exceed the amount of rich guys walking though I always could be wrong.....
I think these kind of cases may be in small towns, counties.

It's not good sitting in a jail cell knowing you did nothing wrong, imagine sitting on death row.

I work in the Cook County Jail in Illinois and I can tell you that Ryan is a piece of garbage. Check into his recent indictments. His actions caused the deaths of several children. If you have ever worked in a correctional facility you would know that all inmates are innocent according to them. The Police always plant dope, guns and dead bodies. The media made these Death row inmates sound like victims but I knew most of them and can tell you that they could not behave in Jail either. Most were gang members and caught Jailhouse cases for shanks or assault. The media does not bring that up because unless an Officer is accused of brutality, jail is rarely news. Ryan did not commute thier sentences because they were innocent, he commuted because he needed to take the heat off himself due to his licenses for bribes scandal. I work in Maximum Security and can assure you that these inmates fit in to that world perfectly. Are there wrongly incarcerated people? Absolutely. I believe that Law Enforcement is advancing in technology such as with DNA testing. With new technology we will be able to minimalize the number of wrongly accused individuals.

When I refered to someone being innocent and in jail I was referring to myself because that's the only person that I know for SURE that was/is innocent at the time...


Do you know what's happening with the cases against Ryan?

I'm gald DNA testing is getting so advanced and I'm sure LE greatly appreciates it as so does the public...
