A new Chief of Police will be picked by the Mayor pretty soon and our community meetings are getting more frequent as we approach the "BIG" day.
Two Police Commissioners are always present, members of the community, and Police officers from the local departments.
Out of the fifty people at the meeting only ten civilians (including myself) were present as representatives of the community.
And although I know that a mass mailing to the community was sent out, only ten people showed up
Why is that ?
There was an open forum and a chance to every community member to speak in front of the group was given to express his idea of how a Police Chief should or shouldn't be.
There was refreshments, literature, pretty female Officerseveryone was friendly and the community leaders really listened to the public's voice.
Out of the 3000 people living around here only 10 cared enough to dedicate 30 minutes of their time in matters concerning their safety and welfare.
What can I say, I guess the apathy epidemic is more serious than I thought.
