One thing is for certain: Private Enterprise always does things more efficiently than Government ever will.

    What drives Private Enterprise? Money.

    What drives Government? Power

Like it or not, our Country didn't become the leader of the free world because our Government dictated who was going to run what company or how much they would be paid to run it.

I saw a stat from the BBC today that showed that on Average, wait times for people there are 11 months to replace a hip, 12 months to replace a knee and 5 months for a Herniated Disc.

In our Country, this Health Bill will eliminate that problem when the elderly get past 55, because when the system goes overbudget... and you know that it will..., the elderly just won't get any.

Ever heard of Eugenics? I understand that 2 of the 3 advisors on this plan are big proponents of it.

I thought they called them "Townhall" so they could hear what the Constituents had to say.

Baird fears foes may plan ‘ambush’
‘Telephone town hall’ will replace meeting

    Thursday, August 6 | 11:13 a.m.

    BY MICHAEL ANDERSEN
    COLUMBIAN STAFF WRITER

Over 10 years in Congress, U.S. Rep. Brian Baird has stayed tethered to his district, flying back to Southwest Washington for more than 300 sometimes-bruising town hall meetings during Congressional recesses.

But this year, he's literally decided to phone it in.

Instead of appearing in person, where "extremists" would have "the chance to shout and make YouTube videos," Baird said Wednesday, he's holding what he calls "telephone town halls" instead.

Baird said he's using the new system because he fears his political opponents may be planning "an ambush" to disrupt his meetings, using methods Baird compared to Nazism.

"What we're seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics," Baird, D-Vancouver, said in a phone interview. "I mean that very seriously."

The coming telephone conference call would be Baird's third this year.

His office used its Congressional allowance to buy the necessary software around the start of 2009, a spokesman said.

    Secret schedule

Here's how it'll work: if you happen to be sitting near a publicly listed Clark County telephone line on the right day at the right time, your phone will ring.

In order to avoid software problems, Baird's office says, the exact date and time will be kept secret from the public.

If you answer your landline, an automated message will ask whether you have a question for your Congressman.

Press *3, and you'll be asked your location and the subject of your question. Sitting at his own telephone at an as-yet-undisclosed location, Baird then will choose a name based on its location and the topic.

There will be no further pre-screening, Baird said. After the call is over, the recording will be posted on his Web site.

Baird said the phone interviews will include "a much better cross-section of the public" than some live town halls.

"There is this national movement in blogs and on the Internet to go to town hall meetings solely to attack people," Baird said. "One colleague of mine recently was hung in effigy at a town hall meeting. Others needed police escorts."

Last month, according to Politico.com, a protestor hung an effigy of Rep. Frank Kratovil, D-Maryland, from a noose.

That event took place during an organized protest, according to Politico.

    ‘We are not nut cases’

Not all Baird's constituents support his decision.

Pam Benson of Larch Mountain, 62, said she realizes Baird disagrees with her on health care reform.

But the lack of town hall meetings makes her feel angrier and more helpless, she said.

"He's supposed to be our representative," said Benson, a purchasing manager for Portland Cascade Architecture and Engineering in Portland. "He's supposed to listen to us, whether he's on our side or not."

Benson said she doesn't understand why health care reform is moving forward when everyone she talks to seems to oppose it.

"We are not nut cases that disagree with this issue," she said. "There are a lot of very well-informed people that are against this health care thing."

It's enough to make a Republican like her paranoid, she said.

"It makes me feel that there is a conspiracy here to screw up the whole entire United States," she said with a laugh. "It's just too much, too fast."

For his part, Baird said live meetings will "probably resume" in September or October.

Baird said he has no way to be sure whether hateful protests would happen if he held live town halls while visiting the district next week.

"We'll have to see how this works out," Baird said. "If someone says you're going to walk into an ambush, you don't do it just to prove there's an ambush."

    FROM RULES FOR RADICALS…

“From the moment the organizer enters a community he lives, dreams… only one thing and that is to build the mass power base of what he calls the army. Until he has developed that mass power base, he confronts no major issues…. Until he has those means and power instruments, his ‘tactics’ are very different from power tactics. Therefore, every move revolves around one central point: how many recruits will this bring into the organization, whether by means of local organizations, churches, service groups, labor Unions, corner gangs, or as individuals.”

“Change comes from power, and power comes from organization.” p.113

“The first step in community organization is community disorganization. The disruption of the present organization is the first step toward community organization. Present arrangements must be disorganized if they are to be displace by new patterns…. All change means disorganization of the old and organization of the new.” p.116

“An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent… He must create a mechanism that can drain off the underlying guilt for having accepted the previous situation for so long a time. Out of this mechanism, a new community organization arises….

“The job then is getting the people to move, to act, to participate; in short, to develop and harness the necessary power to effectively conflict with the prevailing patterns and change them. When those prominent in the status quo turn and label you an ‘agitator’ they are completely correct, for that is, in one word, your function—to agitate to the point of conflict.” p.117

Then why not have complete private enterprise on the Police and Fire Services? They'd certainly do a better job than today's LEO's and they can fire you just to make their customers happy. Not everything is viable as a business model and we still have patient dumping even with EMTALA. Efficiency also drops when a private business has a monopoly on things.

Our country isn't ready for it though. Like I said, we need to get out most of the waste before we can do something as big as this.

Because police specifically represent the government, so they must be government employees. You cannot turn the entire justice system into a private entity. Fire COULD be privatized if someone REALLY wanted to outlay all that money for infrastructure. Hell, many (if not most) ambulance services are private, but that's a huge difference since they're generally not "first responders" (at least in the West where I've been).

They'd certainly do a better job than today's LEO's and they can fire you just to make their customers happy.
 You MUST be out of your mind thinking that privatized "cops" would be better. They would be officially unofficial security guards. Constitutional authority is given to certain selected individuals who work for city, county, state, tribal and federal entities - not John Q Citizen. The "red tape" that we all deal with is the PITA I am hoping you're referring to.

Our country isn't ready for it though. Like I said, we need to get out most of the waste before we can do something as big as this.
I would contend that the COUNTRY is ready to end wasteful spending, it's just that the elected officials are not. Another great reason for term limits.
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

Yes I was referring to red tape but I wasn't serious as it'd end up as vigilante justice for the highest paying consumer.

I didn't say the country was ready to end wasteful spending. I ment it wouldn't be ready to do something like a public healthcare system without ending wasteful spending and frivolous spending first. I believe that important foundations for the Police, Fire, Health, Armed Forces, and Infrastructure (roads, bridges) should be run by Government and that anything else should be run by private companies/individuals.

Also this might interest you. In New York City, even more-so in Brooklyn a lot of BLS & ALS Ambulances are privately owned. Where I am, the Police run the ALS Ambulances while Fire runs BLS, except you end up getting a pricey bill from the PD for their services.

Brendon where I'm at you pay for abulance service no matter if its from a Private Corp or the City.

Same goes for helicopter transport. One of the hospitals actually OWNS its own fleet of heli's and ambulances and charges for their use.

No matter what happens, you cannot cutout excess government spending.

Georgia Democrat yells at local doctor over health care

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/weblo...doctor-over-h/

By Amanda Carpenter on Aug. 8, 2009 into The Back Story

Tensions are running so high at town hall meetings that Rep. David Scott, a Georgia Democrat, yelled at a local doctor concerned about health care after mistaking him for an "astroturf" political operative looking for a fight.

Mr. Scott became visibly agitated when one of his constituents, a practicing doctor, asked a few questions about health care reform during a town hall meeting. The meeting was held to discuss a road project, but was opened up for questions near the end. That's when Dr. David Hill stood up to speak.

Dr. Hill asked Mr. Scott why he was going to vote for a health care plan similar to that implemented in Massachusetts "that is shown not to work" and if he supported a government-provided health care insurance option.

The congressman replied by accusing the doctor of "hijacking" his event.

"I'm listening to my constituents, OK?" Scott said, "These are people who live in the 13th Congressional district, who vote in this district. That’s who I’ve got to respond to … So what you’ve got to understand, those of you who are here, who have taken and came and hijacked this event we dealing with here, this is not a health care event."

"You chose to come and to do it on your own," he yelled. "Not a single one of you had the decency to call my office and set up for a meeting." He went on, in a threatening voice, "You want a meeting with me on health care, I'll give it to you!"

The outburst is yet another example of how confrontational town hall meetings have become over recent weeks, as constituents are becoming more forthright in asking their elected representatives challenging questions. These actions and other forms of protest have been encouraged by limited government advocacy groups opposed to the stimulus package, the Democrats favored health care reforms and other big spending government proposals.

The White House has labeled these efforts "astroturf", shorthand for fake grassroots. To combat these efforts, groups supporting these plans — such as Service Employees International Employees Union — have been appearing at these town halls as well, effectively creating local "showdowns" between opposing political powers.

Mr. Scott's public tirade against the doctor was filmed by WXIA-TV News, a local NBC affiliate that confirmed the doctor lived in the congressman's district in a follow-up interview.

The doctor told the reporters he wasn't working for any outside causes and had called Mr. Scott's office repeatedly, asking to speak with the congressman.

"I did not go to a meeting to create any problems, I went to the meeting to literally ask a question that I thought was very, very important for my patients," he said.

(NOTE: The WXIA video report of the event that includes the congressman's remarks and the post-interview with the doctor is available on their website here under the video titled "Congressman Scott's Town Hall." HotAir.com, a conservative-leaning blog, also has it embedded into their item about the town hall here. It is more easily accessed on HotAir.com)

What is a huge pisser to me is that the GOP is being accused by the mainstream Media of disrupting these meetings with bussed in miscreants, when it is the Dems who bus in the Government funded ACORN people to protest.

The protesters are actually small business people and retiree's who will be paying for all of it.

Protesters are coming from many different political leanings.

    clipped from: MEDICAL MURDER

To a small degree, Obamacare's ominous implications are starting to leak out. Here's how columnist Charlotte Allen explained it recently in the Los Angeles Times:

In looking for a way to fund healthcare, Obama has set his eye on the oldest and sickest. You see, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, about 30 percent of Medicare spending – nearly $100 billion annually – goes to care for patients during their last year of life. What if there were no 'last year of life,' the president seems to be asking. ... [W]hy not save billions of dollars by killing off our own unproductive oldsters and terminal patients, or – since we aren't likely to do that outright in this, the 21st century – why not simply ensure that they die faster by denying them costly medical care? The savings could then subsidize care for the younger and healthier.

And for those who have been paying close attention, Obama himself has ever-so-gently hinted at his true intentions. At a town hall event in June televised by ABC News, Obama cited the case of his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who died on the eve of his election, suggesting one way to cut medical costs would be to stop expensive procedures on people about to die.

Families, Obama said, need better information so they don't approve "additional tests or additional drugs that the evidence shows is not necessarily going to improve care."

"Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller," the president offered.

Obama was slightly more explicit in a May 3 interview with the New York Times, when he said there ought to be a national "conversation" over whether "sort of in the aggregate, society making those decisions to give my grandmother, or everybody else's aging grandparents or parents, a hip replacement when they're terminally ill is a sustainable model." Such decisions, added Obama, shouldn't be left to patients or their relatives, but to a "group" of "doctors, scientists, ethicists" who are not part of "normal political channels."

One such elite medical decision-maker would be Obama’s special adviser for health policy, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of Rahm Emanuel. He's a longtime advocate of "age-weighted medical rationing" – meaning, the older you are, the less care you get, as in Britain. But what about the Hippocratic Oath, you might ask, the sacred vow doctors have always taken to do all they can to heal their patients? As Whistleblower documents, Emanuel advises doctors to stop taking that oath so literally, and instead to be "prudent" in assessing how much time, effort and money each patient is worth, for the greater good of society.

I haven't read all of the bill I admit but I have read a lot of it, skimmed parts, skipped parts etc. From what I have read it is another step towards socialism... It is borderline fascism.

It socialistic because of the taxation. It takes from the working class to pay for everyone. All people will be on all levels. Soon we will all be living in the same size houses, driving the same cars, and having no choice...

    HONESTLY. IT IS THAT BAD.

It is fascist because it leaves not just the patient with no choices but it leaves doctors and companies providing their employees with health insurance no choices. Costs will actually rise because of it.

It has never worked in other countries, so it won't work here. I don't have a solution but I would think tweaking our current system to make it more efficient??

The Obama Administration is claiming these are all false and that those who oppose the bill are fear mongering. Read the bill and you will see for yourself. There IS a lot to not like about it. Blaming others for lying is the old bait and switch tactic, when you are the one lying...

Someone told me old people could be cut out because they are going to die anyway. No way would I believe that. It was obviously just fear etc. Go read it and it does say it. I will go find it and copy and paste that part of the bill.

Actually I am beginning to believe people aren't angry enough even after these town hall uprisings. Now, fighting with force won't do anything but land you in prison... But making sure people are educated about the issues and the truth that Congress are lying cheats who want this passed to line their check books... A lot of people are funding this Obamacare and congress owns stock in a lot of these companies. It is in their best interest to pass this...
