Who is Chet Edward's President?
George W. Bush - Rebublican.

>Who is Chet Edward's President?
Immaterial. Who does Chet Edward work for? Not his President but the people in his district for it is they, not his President, who "sign his fitrep", and George Bush is just one of those people.

Well, it is one of those things. Answer to him because he is in his district? Yes. Answer to him because he is the party leader of the party in charge of the house? Errrr, sort of.Originally Posted by cecilVA
But answer to him because he is President? Well, unless the Honorable Edwards has a military status in the question and then, in that case, we aren't talking about a congressman, then it's No. That's rather known as seperation of powers.
If it wasn't there, well, Nixon wouldn't had have to resigned because he was the President and could tell Congress what to do..............but it is there.

Well yes true the President doesn't have any kind of constitutional authority over members of Congress. In the end Rep Edwards works for George W Bush, resident of the 17th Congressional District (as opposed to working for the President of the United States).

It's not immaterial in the original context of this thread, which didn't bring up who worked for whom, or who answers to whom. You're the one that brought that up. No, the original post brought up a simple point of fact that Chet Edwards was Dubya's Congressman.Originally Posted by SnowLeopard
My reply was nothing more than another simple point of fact, designed to point out the cyclical nature of the original post.
BTW, if you're a little slow with other threads, just let me know. I'd be happy to put those in simple terms for you as well.

I just thought it was ironic.

I voted for both Chet Edwards and George Bush. Coupled with the fact that Arlene Wohlgemuth was out on the fringes and Edwards was a moderate, Edwards was the best man to be the District 17 Congressman.
He is a strong advocate for veterans and has great relations with local DAs. Some of you guys from Texas in the know might recognize a guy by the name of Bill Turner. He's a Democrat, but he got prosecutor of the year and was endorsed by every Republican in his county for re-election. His support of Chet Edwards was instrumental in Chet winning the congressional race.
Whats also ironic is Crawford's newspaper endorsed Kerry while Kerry's hometown paper (don't remember the town) endorsed Bush.Originally Posted by oscarmitre

No I don't think it was Boston, I think it was some small Mass town where he grew up or something. I saw it on Drudge awhile back. Besides the Boston Globe is the paper of record in Boston and is in Kerry's pocket. The Boston Herald is more conservative (I think its owned by Oscar's buddy, Rupert Murdoch)Originally Posted by DC Law

IIRC, even the Democratic mayor of Boston hates Kerry.
