Congress Bypassed, Obama Probably Will Probably Be Reelected

Under the administration plan, illegal immigrants will be immune from deportation if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned an equivalent degree, or served in the military. They also can apply for a work permit that will be good for two years with no limits on how many times it can be renewed. The officials who described the plan spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss it in advance of the official announcement.

The policy will not lead toward citizenship but will remove the threat of deportation and grant the ability to work legally, leaving eligible immigrants able to remain in the United States for extended periods. It tracks closely to a proposal offered by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, a child of immigrants who has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential candidate, as an alternative to the Dream Act.
Obama immigration policy: Immunity for some

On other forums It all hate and the same old arguments. What I would to know is how LE feels about the subject without the same o same o talking points.

I see it as tax revenue for one, a new source for our military. And thru no fault of they're own with some, no country to call home, I agree. Rubio also thought so..

I don't like it. These young adults are in the country illegally. I can understand not hammering them when they are juveniles, but these are adults. They know they are here illegally and they should be made to leave the country. Heck I'm all for having them leave the country without prejudice, meaning they leave but don't have the stigma of being an illegal when it comes to applying for a visa. If they are kicked out they are barred form reentry for five years. That can be waived since they voluntarily requested removal. I can understand not going specifically after them, that's called discretion. That is not what Obama is doing. He is allowing them to obtain a work visa so they can stay. The problem comes up what do you do with these people in 2 years when their work visa expires? Do you simply keep extending them until they die? Do you extend them until they have a child in the country and are eligible to stay and adjust status to an LPR? Do you throw them out at the end of two years?

They are not a new source of tax revenue. They are not a source of recruits for the military. They are taking jobs away from people who are in the country legally and who are US citizens.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Translation for the intellectually challenged: If the government screws the people too much, it is the right and duty of the people to revolt and form a new government.

No, you don't. I had a Brit in my basic training, it's a path to get citizenship. However, you have to be here legally to enlist.

It's just all political BS for election time. None of the illegals this addresses are being deported anyway. Even the one's that are picked up on small charges are going to behind closed door deportation hearings with liberal judges that then give them a blessing to stay.
Now for the actual policy of letting young hispanics that want to get an education and be a productive citizen, I don't have a problem with. But until they become serious and give the resources to shut the border down, it means nothing. So go back to my first sentence that it's just polictal BS.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

So in other words you would need a green card? Also who rents to 16 year olds? I assume once the family is deported the minors go in state custody. This was definitely not thought through.

I believe their parents are still here. This is supposed to apply to illegals who were brought over here before the age of 16 so one would assume that their parents/family brought them and that they are still here as well. I think that it is a bad idea, but our President has been pushing everything that he can't get passed through with an executive order so I am not the least bit suprised.

I agree. I understand that the POTUS has a lot of discretion, but when the law says you must do something there really isn't much discretion there. If the law specifically states you must drink three glasses of water when you wake up, that is the requirement. Discretion can say you must drink three glasses of water within an hour of waking up. Breaking the law says you don't have to drink the water. That is what the POTUS is doing. Telling these illegal immigrants that they don't have to drink water.

The longer this president is in power the more restless the far right is getting. If he gets reelected, I would expect large uprisings to occur and we will have our own "summer of revolts". I mean when the SCOTUS comes out and says sorry we are not going to overturn a law because your representatives voted on it. Please THAT is their job. Not too mention the House of Representative did not vote on it. Queen Pelosi "deemed it to have passed". That is a procedure that is done with laws with so overwhelming support that even in discussions there are almost no dissenters. That does not describe the Health Insurance law. Chief Justice Roberts did not do the job he was appointed to do. The more the productive in this country are told they have to give up some of their hard work for those who do nothing the more dissatisfied they will become.

Revolution is coming and it is the government's, fault for going down the road of Socialism.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

You know....I'll not go on a rant about this because I'm sure others are sick of hearing it from me in RL - but you have to wonder: don't you think that this could potentially have just a LIL' BIT (read: far-reaching/long term) of an effect on attempting to deport persons of interest in terrorism investigations?....

    I can see it now:

Oh he was with them whenever they were doing all of that and preaches extremist rhetoric and action against "American Crusaders" as well?

Well it's an executive order, tough.
