Both statements do not mean you are: a) qualified for the position; b) have what it takes to do the job; or c) should even be considered for the job.
If you were willing to do what it takes, you would not have stopped when injured. If you were willing to do what it takes, you would not have lied and failed to disclose your prior injury. If you were willing to do what it takes, you would have told the instructor you are not leaving and they would have to carry your dead body out. If you were willing to do what it takes, you would not have packed your bags and left.
I don't care you never crossed the finish line first. I think there are two types of people....those who will cross the line and those who quit. I realize I am in one group and you are in the other. That is OK. What I have a problem with, and every future employer will, is the Giglio issue you created for yourself. You lied when you failed to disclose. And every arrest you make that goes to court, the agency has the obligation to disclose to the defense any misconduct or issues of officer reliability. That means your agency will tell every defense attorney you lied on official paperwork and when discovered, you resigned. Every defense attorney will rip you to shreds and your credibility on the stand is a big fat zero. And since you can't testify, you can't make arrests. You can't make arrests....you can't be a cop.
What we want in life is not what we always get. I want a mansion on the Hudson....and am doing everything I legally can to attain that dream. The reality is it will never happen. While a certain generation of folks have raised their kids thinking they can get anything they want, or that you can be forgiven for every mistake you made, that is not how society works.
There is no advice for how to prepare yoruself again. I don't thik they will let you in, and if tehy did, even if you passed, no agency is going to hire you with a Giglio issue. Time for plan/career B. You may disagree, but you asked for an opinion, and you got one from a guy who worked Aplicant Processing with the NYPD and sits on the hiring panel now.
