    The futuer of FHP

Im currently in the application process and recently went to the Havana(Tallahassee) to weigh in and take my CJBAT. So As Trooper [MODERATOR EDIT: name removed to protect the privacy of a trooper who likely did not give his consent to having his name posted here] was explaining to us that the state was going to cut/fire/get rid of 400+ troopers. Now, There are only 75 slots available as of right now. So if the State of Florida is getting rid of so many why the heck are we even hiring?. Why the hell am I even applying!? Im hoping this isnt true as I want to be an active trooper. If this doesn't work out I would consider being an axillary.

Wanted to chime in on this one as I 'settled' early in my carreer.

I always wanted to be a Texas Trooper, but there was always an excuse to do something else (i.e. more money, location..etc). I went to two different departments, and found what I already knew. I liked traffic, wrecks and happenings on a State level. So years later, here I am applying for Texas DPS.

My point - for what its worth - If your heart is set on FHP, don't settle. Political and economical peaks and valleys come and go. Stay focused on the goal and DON'T COMPROMISE! You are applying because it is a style of policing that is in the blood. I salute all officers, but SHP is just my cup of tea.

Good luck to you and stay motivated!
For me, before there was the Thin Blue Line, there was the Blood Stripe! Semper Fi!

**DISCLAIMER** I'm not a current LEO, but have six years experience with two city PD's in NC and TX as a sworn officer. I'm in the process of returning to LEO work ASAP.

FHP has a lot of turnover so there will always be positions that they are hiring for.

On another note, it is tacky to put the actual name of the Trooper on your post. I dont think he/she would be happy to see his name associated with the stuff your wrote. If I were in your shoes I would edit the quote and just call him/her the FHP recruiter.
Eunice: A .22? Oh you've gotta be kidding me. That's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Detective Greenly: Yeah, or bringing a really small gun... to a gunfight.

I went to the FHP academy. What do you need to know?
