Florida CJBAT Test

I got a question for anyone familiar with the CJBAT test for the state of Florida. I took it and got a passing score of 82 on it. 70 is passing. Just wondering how a Department would determine this as a decent score or just enough to get by or what? Or if how much of a determinant that score is for me being successful or not in the academy? Dude, it just gets you into the academy. Dont worry about the score. Get in the academy, graduate, then pass the state exam. Hopefully you get hired. Good luck.

Not a thing. Its a basic apptitude test with an LEO slant. And tests are a poor indicator of future performance. I have seen officers (Corrections) that aced several tests, and made lousy COs. In contrast, many of the outstanding COs I know, aren't good test takers.

By the way, are you going to attend the academy under the new CMS curiculum? I hear its a killer.

The BAT test is new. It use to be the TABE (test for adult basic education) test and there were 3 catagories in it and the highest was 12.9 (12th grade plus) on all sections. Some dpts would accept 12.5 ; However, alot of people were getting 10's in the math so it was reconstructed and the BAT is what they use with 1 score. Just do the best you can on it.

Im not sure whether or not i'll be taking that new curriculum. Really doesnt say on the application I got. I've heard about it, but whether or not i'll be taking it, im not sure. All im waiting for now is my physical next week, and then drop off the application. The college said once they get the application and run my background, I should be good to go for the march sesssion, possibly january if a slot is open. unless something bad comes back, which it shouldnt :D

Usually by mail...I called about 2 days later and they told me over the phone.............hahah when she said I got 3 12.9's (highest possible) I almost gave my name again.

I took my CJBAT test at a community college and they printed out my results 5 minutes after me taking it. It was pretty nice.

After that and assuming you did the physical agility and swim test,,,you then take your papers (scores) and turn it in with your application. Goes pretty quick from there.

Physical agility and swim? Are these part of the new curriculum? I just went through (crossover) at Valencia, and the swim and agility tests are given by the departments you apply to AFTER you go through the academy and pass the State Exam.

Depends what your dpt curriculm is...for us it was...you went and performed a swim test, basic agility and TABE test. Once you had completion of all you submitted it with your application to the Sheriffs office. Then you are notified of the following:
(After each one you are notified by mail if you passed.)

1. Another test at police dpt...like following instruction type.

2. Oral Board (On this they tell you you will be notified by mail;however if you actually pass they tell you right there and send you to administration with a file. I would assume it is done like this in case you dont pass you cant argue or be confrontational there)

3. Polygraph (notified by mail and called for next test type/ date)

4. Psychological written and 1 week after that Psychological with DR.

5. Back ground check

6. Reference check with your recent/current employer.

Once you are hired you are sent to the academy as an employee and make $10.00 an hr. Police Dpt pays everything.

This process from me turning in my full application with the TABE, swim and Physical agility took from April 98 to Jan 99 starting the Feb academy.
Guys its a hassle, but I think its designed to weed out the people who wont follow through with the process.
Its well worth it in the end. Your attitude needs to be "One test at a time, if you make it you make it" and dont sweat it.

10-4. In my area of the state, departments rarely sponser cadets through the academy. Most people pay for it on their own, then apply to various departments after they are certified. What area of the state are you in?
