    Police magazines wanted

I am looking for the following magazines from roughly 1970 to 1983:

    --Crime & Delinquency

    --FBI law enforcement bulletin

--Police Chief (especially an issue from the 70's which I know has an article on "KTW" ammunition)

Any of these magazines with articles pertaining to:
specialty ammunition, "armor piercing", "metal piercing" "penetrating", etc.. specifically bullets which are:

KTW, Arcane, THV, Omnishock, PMC Ultramag tubular, PPS - MSC,
G.E.A. Guilford cyclone, American Ballistics co "ABC", National cartridge "black steel"

---Will pay good money for the right articles, most likely will be about KTW

    2 simple reasons:

1st = I am a member of the International Ammunition Association, and I am a collector of rare cartridges, and information about them. Specifically I have been collecting pistol-caliber armor-piercing cartridges with various types of projectiles. In my state of Maine it is perfectly legal to possess, buy, sell, etc.. these types, and the federal ban on this ammunition is only against manufacturing or importing such ammunition after August 28th, 1986, or against the use of such ammunition in drug-related felonies or by convicted felons, not against simple possession or trade of "pre-ban" AP pistol cartridges. Only Texas, California, Illinois, and Washington D.C. actually have full-blown bans on possession of this formerly manufactured or imported ammunition type, with Florida, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Kentucky having near-full bans. This leads to my second and more pertinent reason for wanting such magazines with related information to such AP pistol cartridges, which is:

2nd = I am writing a book centered around the specific state-to-state & federal legalities and histories for this type of ammunition which I started as sort of a side-dish to my collecting hobby, to sort of make sure I wasn't breaking any laws through transactions, but which has now become a more serious book-writing effort. I've amassed a great deal of info through collecting, speaking to other knowledgeable collectors, and through reading a few scant L.E. books, and from several magazine articles which I already have. Before I am completely finished with my reference book though, I wanted to make one last solid attempt at getting some of the hard-to-find Law Enforcement magazines for reference, which are typically only distributed to law enforcement such as "Police Chief", "Law & Order" or "Police Product News". The real white whale for me is the Spring-1988 "Tactical Edge" journal from the NTOA- National Tactical Officer's Association which I understand had a great write-up on AP pistol bullets.

I appreciate your concern, and trust me my intentions are wholly legal, and in fact based somewhat on the clarification and re-enforcing of such laws regarding pistol caliber armor-piercing ammunition, of which there is a great deal of misinformation abounding on the internet, and also amongst law enforcement and government officials. I would be glad to answer any questions regarding pistol caliber AP ammo (it actually does get pretty confusing), and I do consider myself an expert on the matter of all pre-ban pistol caliber AP ammunition from the 70's and 80's as well as military surplus, and current PDW type military armor piercing pistol-calibers (some of which are actually legal in most states and do not violate the federal law). Don't worry anyway, I'm not one of those "tacti-cool" types who is overly in love with things like the FN Five-seveN pistol or whatever. Just a researcher and serious collector.

Thanks for any help, photos, or info!

    magazine articles

Also, and just to put anyone's mind at ease about providing information or magazine articles to me to aid in the pursuit of my book writing... I am not planning to make any money from this book per-se, and I'm not going to have it distributed or put on Amazon or anything. I'm just going to make about 30 or maybe 40 or 50 copies and distribute them to my collector colleagues, and any Law enforcement or the like who might be interested. Not random punk kids via ebay or anything like that.

Great response! You obviously have some technical knowledge and the like on the matter and obvious to me your intentions by what and how your wrote.

I don't have any laying around. I recently threw out about 10 boxes of Police Chief from the 70's when I bought my new house and found them in the attic.

Law&Order will sell you copies of older issues.

For your golden jem, Spring-1988 "Tactical Edge" journal from the NTOA- National Tactical Officer's Association, you can get it! You will have to take a copy of all Tactical Edge Magazines ever printed from 1983 to 2000 in PDF format. And you will have to pay $180. Steep price but not bad for an electronic version of 17 years of magazines. That is around $10.58 a year!!!

Have you called NATO and explained the who and what you are doing and ask for a copy of that single article?

I tried that, but they don't sell to anyone outside of the NTOA (you have to enter a member # when you order) Thanks to all for the suggestions anyway. I will see about getting a copy of this book to those who want one when I'm done.

    NTOA Journal

Just BTT'ing this as I am still looking for a Spring 1988 copy of the NTOA's "Tactical Edge" journal, or at least a scanned or copied image of some of the articles in it. I would pay $20.00 for one. The NTOA website has the whole archive, but still will not sell to non-NTOA members. I would pay $200 to any current NTOA member who could buy the whole 1983-2000 archive on CD ($180) for me.

    Thanks
