im a explorer and im in need of a cheap vest
im a explorer and im in need of a cheap vest
Only advice I can give is................
You don't want to go cheap there...that is unless you consider your life cheap. Then again, I don't know what you'll be using this for.
You get what you pay for. If you go cheap, not only will the protection be second rate but so will the comfort. Personally, this is one item that if I had to shell out of my wallet for it I wouldn't go cheap. But thats just me.
I don't care how many years someone has been wearing one, after a shift (whether its 8, 10, 12, 16 or longer) its uncomfortable and a relief in several ways to get it off. Still.... either way for a decent vest you can figure shelling out a couple hundred.
But like counihan said, depends on what you plan on using it for... ;)
But back to your question...
A little over a month ago (give or take some days, mine have a tendency to blend together) I was issued new body armor, by Protective Products International. I'm rather impressed with how light weight and comfortable it is. You may want to check those out.

thanks. well i know if i go cheap i will get cheap. but im only going to use it to wear to my meetings
I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ ....but, are you in a uniform? If you are, I'm going to wadger that you drive from your home to the meetings and back in uniform. Does some junkie off the street know the difference between you (as an explorer) or an officer in the department?? Most average citizen cannot tell the difference between different police agencies/departments I seriously doubt they are going to be able to tell the difference between you and an officer. All the average ahole sees is those big targets on either shoulder (patches) and your chest (badge). Just some food for thought. Besides, if you plan on sticking with this, why not shell out and purchase a good one... one that will last.

ya i know what you mean and i am in uniform but i wear a cover over my shirt. I know they wont know the differences between me and a cop. but i dont want to spend $400-$500 for one
Then you might need to consider a different job or career. Your logic for wearing a vest is quite frankly, ridiculous. We don't wear things to "get used to them." Obviously you are a kid and wearing one now will not compare to later, once your body fully develops and your wearing a full gun belt.
If you want one for safety, I am all for it! Any other reason is ridiculous. And if you are getting one, don't place a dollar amount on your life. Period. Ifs your life worth $100? $200? A few thousand? For $400 you can get a decent vest at your local police shop.

its just right now im a explorer and cant afford paying a lot for one
