Some good lessons from this video, and/or things to at least think about:

    1. Always carry a backup weapon
    2. One of the officers was forced to run a great distance for cover from parking the cruiser far out. This is not to say it was the wrong decision initially, but certainly something to think about

Darnell's attorney accused prosecutors of withholding a police videotape from King's police cruiser that might have helped Darnell's case. Prosecutors denied it, saying they didn't know King was at the scene because he didn't file any reports.
After seeing the video there is NO way another view of the incident could have helped the defense.

How can you defend a man that runs around a car with a sawed off shotgun....then FIRES at an Officer and ex girlfriend....and it's all caught on 2 cameras???

Video from a camera aboard Feliciano's patrol car shows King walk up after the shooting was over, look at the wounded woman lying on the ground and the two shaken officers, and then run to his patrol car and drive away.
    Pure cowardice....

    Even worse:

Investigators said they believe King arrived on the scene before Feliciano did, but stayed in his car until the shooting was over.
That disgusts me. Just imagine if the other officer (Feliciano) was 2 seconds later getting there.

Wow, that guy should have been fired. I would never let another officer fire at someone and not get out to assist that officer. That should be your first thing you think about is your partner!!!!!

Great learning video. Even flag downs should be seen as a possible deadly encounter.

By no means would I ever defend a persons actions when they do not act as they are expected to. However, there are those that we work with who we suspect would not move towards the threat. When the sonic crack of a round passing by your immediate area happens, you stand your ground or give it up. Some will just freeze and hope others will cover their butts while they go to that happy place.

I have personnaly seen the small guy move forward and act heroically while others did not act as expected (I was coordinating the event of course, from the front;)).

This event and follow-on report shows how you should act and how some would act.

as for the orginal video, I find no cowardice in that. Yea he could put his neck on the line, and try taking a gun on point blank with some hand to hand, but chances are both him and the women would have been killed, and this way he can come to fight another day.
I do agree about the backup, however at least most people I know and most places backups are kept, it would take just as long to draw your backup, as it would to reload your primary. Just something I believe.
didn't read the article, but that I say is beyond cowardice not to mention a pure shame/dishonorable act by any law enforcement officer.
