Officer Explains Shooting Incident caught on Tape

I actually showed this video in one of our Roll Calls, reminding officers how fast things can go bad, real bad.

I use this video also. Very glad the trooper is ok. Excellent incident to review - many points to discuss from a training perspective...

Are you a cop? Most of the points would be inappropriate to discuss with those outside of law enforcement.

It appears the initial round struck near COM. The vest did it's job that night. I'm glad to see the Trooper is still with us. Bless you brother.

I would like to know why there wasn't another officer with him when he pulled those guys over. I'm glad he's okay too.

I suppose but I believed it would have been wise to have a partner along with him. Usually where I live, I always see at least 2 officers in a vehicle when they're patrolling an area and that to me is a safe decision instead of seeing one and not have a backup anywhere near the vicinity.

I don't see why he would have called for backup in the video. Yeah it's at night but many departments deploy single man units. It looks like it all went to SH#T pretty fast and he was trying to get control of the situation when the rounds started popping.

All the tactical stuff would be discussed in the LEO forum.:D

As said before, many departments, especially Trooper posts use only single man cars. The department I work for only has single man cars except for 2-3 nights out of the year. In case you weren't aware, most departments (I believe 85% or so) have less than 50 officers, many with fewer than 10. Thats doesn't allow for the luxury of two man cars.

Wow, this one was hard to watch.

Do you remember in the video when the trooper said he had an
