New to site, a few questions!

    Hey all,

When my grandfather passed away a few years ago, he had a small collection of police patches, most of which are duplicates of my Dad's patch collection that were collected back in the 1970s.

I don't know much of anything about patch collecting, but would like to see these end up in the hands of someone that could use them. Some of these are duty worn patches and I believe they are all authentic given my Dad was an RCMP officer at the time they were collected. I was hoping I might be able to post some pictures and have people tell me what they thought? Should I sell them as a lot? Individually? Just give them away?

I also want to sort out if there are any of my grandfather's army patches in the collection and there are a few I can't sort out myself.

Thanks for your time, comments and suggestions are welcomed.

    Chris

    Hi there,

if you want to become a real member in this forum introduce yourself in the section of new members.

Abour your questions, I collect patches since 1989 and have a big lot from around the world. If the collection you have is from the 70's than there will be a few very worthy patches in the lot. Maybe I can help out if I can see pics. Most non serious collectors sell their patches on ebay, there are sometimes prices of 100+ dollars for one patch in the auctions, if it is a rarity.

    take care

I'm looking for Drug/Narcotic Unit patches together with DUI/DWI unit patches for a frame in our Anti-Drug-Team bureau

Also looking for Massachusetts Police and US Capitol City PD patches now!

Hi there, and thank you for your reply! I posted an intro today in the new member section. Ultimately I just want these to go to someone that can use them. I scanned them all and tried to add links to the photos to the thread. Apparently I can't do that until I post 15 times. So, here is a link to the album on photobucket .com. Just put http :// in front of the below text and it will take you to the album.

i had a look at your photobucket. Most of your patches are canadian Police or RCMP patches. Also there are patches from Florida and a few other states. If you want I'll try to figure out where they all are from.

That would be great! I know a few of them because they are from my home province, but not all of them. I think a few of them are British Army, but I find those confusing, possibly with some ones from Barbados?

If they are family worn, why not save them for kids/grandkids/nieces/nephews? It might duplicates of your Dad's collection but there is only one collection for potentially a lot of relatives. You have quite the hockey card transaction record on Ebay. I think Greg is looking for some Red Wing collections.

    Hi Mike,

The family worn patches are the ones I am trying to sort out to keep! There is only my brother and I in consideration for these other patches and my brother has no interest in these. Since they are duplicates I was hoping to find them a good home with someone that knows a lot more about this than I do (I have my hands full with hockey cards as you could see)!
