The officer's name has not be given yet.
It looks like he was doing a traffic stop and the gunman, who was not involved in the traffic stop, walked up and shot the officer.
VA Tech went on lock down and they found what they believed was a second victim in a parking lot. It turned out it was the shooter.
Why do they do it in the wrong order? They should FIRST shoot themselves THEN others.

Deriek W. Crouse, 39, is the murdered Virginia Tech Police Officer.
He was a husband, father of five, soldier and fine Policeman...
He was my son's platoon Sergeant serving with the 424th Transportation Company, Galax, VA when they
deployed to Iraq... Surviving combat a world away only to be murdered in cold blood in the plain view of
several eye witnesses on the VT campus during a "routine" traffic stop by a completely uninvolved
third party...
Crouse received an award in 2008 for his commitment to Virginia Tech's Driving Under the Influence
efforts.
He is a U.S. Army veteran and formerly worked at the New River Valley Jail and at the Montgomery
County Sheriff's Office.
The coward that murdered Crouse took the easy way out rather than face the rath of the Police that
were hunting him down... His name has not yet been released but will be soon I am sure.

Cowards always take the easy way out. frustratingly we will probably never know what possessed him to shoot this officer either, whether he had a grudge or just was mentally ill.

My deepest condolences to yet another family left without a husband & father... by some scumbag with a vendetta against society.
Thank God that waste of oxygen offed himself. He saved the State of Virginia that much money, rather than executing him, or keeping him in prison for the rest of his life.

The nerve that WBC shows never ceases to amaze me. I'd love to picket one of their funerals with hateful signs, but that would mean i'd be stooping to their level. RIP Officer Crouse.
