    Question Old VASCAR unit

    I have obtained an older VASCAR PLUS Mod #1 unit and am looking for some who can tell me how to work it. I can get it powered up, but after that I need to know what to do with the two reset buttons and the two toggle switches. I know how to set the distance counter.Unless you are over 40 years old you might not know what Vascar is. Thanks.

    I'm 28 and I know what it is. Are you a LEO? If not why do you need a VASCAR unit?

    I run security on a 2000 acre horse rescue center and we have vendors who want to run down our roads at high speed and would like to be able to tell them how far over the posted limit they are running when we ask them to run the speed limit for the sake of the animals.Thanks.

    horsesaver,

    I moved this to a more appropriate forum. Where you had it posted is mainly for Questions or Help having to do with the actual forums themselves.

    We have the +2 units, I havnt seen a model one in YEARS. Fisrt off , it is no longer calibrated.

    2nd . You can do the speed enforcement with some spraypaint, a calculator and a stopwatch.

    Measure off ( with some degree of accuracy , not by walking it) a course of about 500 feet.

    Paint a white line at each end.

    As a cars front end crosses the first line , start your timer, as the cars front end crosses the 2nd line , stop the timer.

    The formula is

    Speed = distance / time * 3600

    Assuming the distance is 528 ft , assume the time was 6.9 seconds.

    .10 / 6.9 = .01449275362 x 3600 ( the number of seconds in an hour) = 52.17 mph

    VASCAR is an average speed timing device that is still widely used in PA as we are the ONLY state that does not allow local police to use radar.

    Buy one of these:

    It's the same thing we use for speeding here in PA.
