    Trail cams

We've been using Moultrie Trail cams to monitor some looted archaelogical sites as well as a game dump site and came across a few issues. It seems this version is supersensitive to motion, so even though the cam itself was well hidden and out of the wind, the wind in the trees surrounding the site seemed to be triggering the camera. We've run into issues in the past with the heat from the sun having the same effect on the IR versions too. Unfortunately, as exposed as these sites are, it is almost impossible to relocate it and still get the images we need for prosecution.

My question is, has anyone found a way around these problems or found a better camera to work with? We want to avoid too many trips into the area to clear the memory card. Has anyone had luck with seismic versions?

I currently have 2 units deployed, one is a Cuddeback and the other a Stealth Cam. I have the Stealth Cam disguised in a standard Hoffman box. It is set to take strings of 9 stills and then reset. It is installed in a building and I have no issues, it is doing a good job and battery life is incredible. I had thought the Stealth Cam's IR light would be a tip-off, but to date (5 months) has not been an issue.

Better is the Cuddeback unit. I have it outdoors and the pics are much better than the SC...and the SC pics are very good. The Cuddeback's reset time is longer and the # of shots per reset is less, but those are the only issues and aren't that bad. Best part about the Cuddeback is you don't see the IR for stills or Video...That si HUGE, IMO. And like the SC battery life is excellent.

If you call Cuddeback directly they will give your agency LE pricing. I believe we got 2 units for the price of one. If you need additional info PM me off line.
