Messenger type bag

Now that I am working in plainclothes, I am in the market for a messenger type bag. I don't want a regular brief case, but I also don't need a "tacticool" type bag either. I am looking for something that I can carry files, pads, etc, can also carry some of my law enforcement gear (spare mags, backup gun, etc) and won't fall apart after 2 weeks of use.

If any of you have any suggestions, please pass them on.
