For those of you who have worked in maritime or high humidity environments, is an electroless nickel baton really as necessary for corrosion protection as the manufacturers would have us believe? Or is it simply a marketing gimmick? Does an electroless nickel-plated baton perform any differently than your standard steel expandable baton?
Similiarly, is conversion to nickel handgun parts advisable or necessary in these environments?
Thanks.
