    Question Monadnock Autolock baton

So I am in the market for a Monadnock baton but I can't decide if I want the 21" with the "safety tip" or if I should go with the 22" with the "power safety tip".

What's the difference between the two tips?

    Any help is appreciated.

I've got two, the 22" (has the PST) and the 16" (has "safety tip").

The Power Safety Tip weighs 3 oz by itself and alters the balance of the baton quite a bit if you are accustomed to other batons that lack it (for instance, having used an ASP for many years). However, it makes for more kinetic energy delivered at impact. The PST is a sort of hard plastic/rubber to lessen the chance of serious injury, and the striking surface is broader, though I don't have any practical experience to compare to. The smaller "safety tip" is the same hard plastic, and in my estimation doesn't alter the balance all that much. Both stick out the top of the baton when closed, unlike an ASP. The PST is easier to grab hold of for a two-handed "low-profile" opening (something you can only do with button-lock batons), but also makes it longer in the closed position.

Of course my favorite feature is the fact that they close without needing to be smacked into the ground (being a civie and an apartment dweller, I needed some subtlety)

    Hope some of that helps.

I have ASP in 21 and 26 inch, I also have the auto lock in 21 inch with safety tip and 26 inch with Power safety tip. My favorite is the ASP 21 Inch both 26 inch batons are heavy and don't care for the balance of them. and the 21 inch autolock doesn't like to stay open and then sometimes doesnt want to close and it is longer in the closed postion then the asp.
