does each department supply or require one to wear a specific body armor? like the military. the military i believe they equip their/our soldiers with the Interceptor vests. i was just wondering if you can pick your own body armor, because i hear DragonSkin was the best in the business on body armor. so i was just wondering if/when i become a LEO if i can pick my own body armor.

It all depends on the department. Your best bet is to ask the departments you're interested in and find out.

I don't think so. They lost their NIJ certification. I don't think a department would issue it without the certification for liability reasons.
