I am interested in getting ceramic plates for an external carrier to be carried as a bail out rig for active shooter. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best prices and/or manufacturers? So far it seems as though Quartermaster has decent prices on one brand. I would like level IV, but I guess I would accept level III since I would be wearing soft armor underneath.
I am not super familiar with the hard armor systems, so feel free to educate me!

Why yes, I am LEO...just haven't taken the time to get verified as I rarely use this website.
I have looked at several websites for plates but they typically don't list prices, thus my asking here. I will also be buying the plates/carrier myself as I work for a small city that just has a few universal up-armor vests for such a situation. Also, I don't have regular contact with anyone from our regional SWAT team to ask.
By the way, I figured that if I wasn't a cop, vendors wouldn't likely sell to me anyway...didn't realize it would be so complicated

Wow...no love on this board! It's no wonder why I don't frequent it! Thank you for delving into my profile...some real detectives! I didn't realize that I hadn't changed my info from when I left animal control, let alone get verified, what a criminal I am.
Ironically, I do carry a gun, wear a real badge even and enforce the laws of the city and state that I work for. I even went to this thing they call an academy for 5 months and passed an FTO program. My business cards even say "Police Officer" and my wife is a cop too. Wow, crazy huh!
Now that I have wasted my time...seriously, go flame someone else. Forget I asked for the assistance and I will be moving on to another LEO website and be verified there. Have fun and thanks for the memories!

Well, you may be right. Still, most LEOs would not need to come on here to find out where to get plates. If you have no friends "in-the-know", you (being a real LEO) should have no time tracking them down online. It's not like you asked us our opinion... you are starting from scratch. Seems odd to me and no one knows who you are.
