Will this be a big or small flashlight?
For big flashlights, the Maglite MagCharger and the Streamlight SL-20XP are pretty much the standard. Others include the Surefire 10X Dominator, and the Tigerlight, which has OC capability.
For smaller lights, the Streamlight Stinger family is pretty much standard.
I would also recommend having at least one CR123 cell-based auxiliary light handy, because rechargeable batteries tend to fail at bad times. I think the Surefire G2 and the Blackhawk Nite-Ops Gladius fit this category well.
I also recommend a visit to the CandlePower Forums.

I have had my Streamlight Stinger for a few years and it is a great light. Small , BRIGHT and rechargeable.

Thanks fellas!!!
We're issued the Stingers and while they work well they only last 40-60 minutes before dying and take forever to recharge.
I ordered a modified Gladius and holder, should be here this week. We'll see if it was worth $250.
candlepowerforums is troublethere is a TON of info over there.
I have a Gladius and several Surefires. I love them all. A good flashlight is often underated.![]()

My wife bought me the new Pelican 7060LED for Christmas. Holy cow, that thing lets me own the night. We were searching for a suspect in a back yard. The rest of the guys were looking wtih their issued maglites and I came and lit up the entire yard. It's also a lot lighter than the maglite.
On my belt as a backup I have a streamlight stinger

Can anyone order from SWPS?
I used to own nothing but Maglites. When I discovered Surefire, I now don't carry anything else. My latest aquisition is a L4 Lumamax that puts out 100 lumens from a 5 watt LED for 1 hour, then the light starts to go dimmer, but you can't beat it for size and convenience (fits in a shirt or pants pocket and shorter than the palm of your hand).
