Electronic Advise Needed...
As a motorcycle traffic officer, I have 30-40 contacts a day. Most folks I stop are pleasant, and know they deserve the citation. However, there are those few that go nuts, and have a tantrum. Some of these end up with calls to my sergeant, or IAB.
Department policy is all complaints get investigated, regardless of how ridiculous they look. I've yet to have a sustained complaint for discourtesy (or anything else, for that mater.) Problem is, time is wasted on the investigations, and it's just a pain for all involved.
So, I need to start audio recording and saving all of my contacts. I would like to find a digital audio recorder that would do the following things:
- Good audio quality. Must be able to pick up both sides of the conversation whether I'm talking to a guy in a Semi cab or Porsche Boxter.
- Lots of storage. I would like to be able to save at least a weeks worth of stops.
- Downloadable to my home computer. That way I could save everything to the hard drive and file them by date. If I get a complaint, it would be easy to go back and find the conversation.
- Shock and waterproof. A must as I'm on two wheels.
- Small enough to put on the front of my belt or shirt epilate.
- Easy to turn on and off with one hand.
All suggestions welcome!
TIA
Dan

Ya'll see the man hangin' out of the spaceship with the really big gun? I'm not sayin' you weren't easy to find, but it's kind of out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place.
Man's lookin' to kill some folk...
