    Holster Help

Our department just approved under-barrel lights for our weapons. The problems is I have a H&K USP .40. I have been waiting for 2 years for Safariland to make a Raptor style holster for the USP, but it has never come. Now I am wondering if there is going to be an option for a Level III Holster for the H&K that will accomodate a underbarrel light (basketweave). I tried to look on google, but eek! They need to make a website were you can put in your weapon, choose duty or off-duty, choose level of retention, choose light or no light, choose finish and it will spit out the holster options. If you guys can help, I would appreciate it.

Welll......I called Safariland and they make a Level II holster that they can add a sentry switch to make it a Level III. My department's armory will not approve it because you have to push the sentry switch backwards, move the strap that goes over the hammer forward and then rock back. They say it's too much wasted movement for a draw. I have to agree. Safariland is supposedly in the design phase for something for the HK, but we will have to wait and see.

    Taxx,

Call Blade-Tech. They make all kinds of duty holsters the fit weapon mounted lights. There stuff is very nice. I checked there website real quick, They don't list everything level 1,2 or 3 so it was a little confusing, and I have to run. But give them a call. They are great to deal with.

I like the site and the holsters. But I have a few problems. Number one, I don't see anything in basketweave. Number two, I'm left-handed and they say "Right-hand only at this time." Number three, watch the video of the holster action. I don't know how they can say that is a Level III holster. Actually, they don't, but they say "....this is just like our level two..." Watching the video, it looks like a level 1.

Level III retention is required by your department? Why not just give your gun to the Chief and then you can call him to bring it to you if you get into a gun fight! We have the Safariland SLS holster and it is a great holster, albeit level II. I can't imaging having to have a level III.

Link it if you can. It needs to be for an HK USP .40 which accomodates an underbarrel light.

Yes! I have spoken to my Chief once and that is when he handed me my certificate of graduation from the academy....so I think I will pass on that one. L3 isn't that bad and it only takes me a fraction to draw and get on target. I havent been practicing recently and came back from vacation only to draw my weapon on a car the other night and got "stuck". I'm talking a half a fraction more than usual, but I noticed it. Back to practicing.
