    Inova X5 tactical white led

I thought this little badboy deserves a shout out.
    inovalight.com
    I use a 3D Maglite with a Xenon bulb as my search/spotlight.
But have been needing something small with a solid beam and as tough as a nail when I am running alarms.
I went thru 3 different LED lights then I found this baby.
About 35.00 to 45.00 bucks depending on where you look. Looks like policemembers.com carrys some inova lights.
Just wanted to say 5 STARS!

I have the INOVA T4 which is the rechargable LED light. I looooooove it.

I was working with the county one night and we were searching some old barns and the T4 just blew away their halogen lights.

And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that...for one chance...just ONE CHANCE to come back here to tell our enemy that they may take our lives, but they will never take OUR FREEDOM!!!"

How many lumens is the output? I see it has 120' range but that doesn't tell me much. I have the Blackhawk Gladius and that has an effective output of 90+ lumens so I was curious how the comparison is?

    Inova T4

I've used the T4 for over a year. I got it through an internet purchase.
The recharge pooped on me but I got a real fast turn around from Inova. Sent in the old light and charger got the new light and charger quickly.
Cons: Water resistant not water proof. The contacts for the recharge are exposed. Longer than than the regular lithium battery powered Xenon lights.
No adjustable focus. On switch is not on the base, so you can't use the surfire type grip on it with a weapon. The diameter is unusual so it is difficult to mount on a weapon. No big deal to me though.

Pros: Haven't had to buy any batteries or bulbs. Charge lasts as long as two hours. Seems to have the 100 lumen output advertised. When doing repair work having the flat base was handy. I could set it up on the base a work with both hands off of the reflected light. The case is a thick walled aluminum tube and the overall length is 8 inches. While it has no cookie cutter you still have a couple of inches of sturdy metal sticking out of both sides of a fist. The fixed focus keeps the light concentrated for an eye flick at all times and you won't have to fuss with it when you are checking the shadows at a longer ranges. The case has machined squares for a good gripping surface.

Here is the review for this light.
It is more of a flood than spot. Last alarm I ran, it lit up a great deal of a indoor basketball court, maybe half the court.

I found that unclemikes makes a nice holster for this, it is labeled for the Scorpion light and hits perfect, I think Bianchi has a Accumold made for it.
    Not sure about leather though.

Hey Valor, in case you haven't had time to research it, you really can't compare an X5T to a Gladius (or just about any other Lux III LED light). The X5T doesn't have a collimating lens(es) or reflector(s) and the the LEDs are not even Luxeons. IMO, the X5T doesn't have enough throw for open/large area searching (would be ok for a trunk or closet) and it's too bright for report writing (unless you don't mind compromising your night vision). I've probably used mine the most as a work light for tight spaces (e.g. working on wiring under the dashboard at night). I think it's also good for lighting up a trail (a safe one, that is) while walking at night or as an around the house light during power outages. You can also get one with UV light output...

I definitely think that right now the Gladius is the top of the line tactical light. The dimming feature covers the wood paths and other places you need low light, the constant on and momentary on are great for traffic stops and other routine night-time stuff. The strobe is awesome for building searches and high risk contacts. You can't beat the features, especially for the price compared to other high end lights with less.

I've seen other lights that are great for doing stuff around the house like you say and that's fine. You don't need a $200 light for crawling in the dash of a car.

I think (hope) the prices are starting to come down a little bit. Saw a used one for sale (on CPF, I think) for $160 shipped - looked to be in excellent condition too...

I've been spending way too much money on STUFF the last month or so but just can't get myself to buy a Gladius. My two T3's ended up finding their ways into the possession of a couple of cousins and I had an opening in my line up but I ended up ordering a new generation SF KL3 module instead...

One Gladius feature that concerned me was the thermal shut down. Have you experienced it?

The thermal shut down is only if it is on for long periods of time and really heats up. I've never needed it that long. I have my department issued rechargeable for standing around directing traffic with a light or standing around lighting a crime scene for the photographer.

I recently searched a huuuuuge church. We didn't realize how big it was until we were way into it. If I ever have to search it again I'll use K9. Anyway it was a solid 45 minutes of searching and I used the Gladius with the strobe and momentary on and never had a problem with it getting hot.

I gotta say I can't imagine using any other light now, I love it.

    Gladius is one fine light.
I had responded to multiple motion trips at a local metal scrapyard, my led Mag did the trick, When the local PD showed up the SGT had a gladius, THAT is a nice light!
What about the weatherproofing on the Gladius?
Im going into corrections (starting in a few weeks):D so the Gladius and my Mag are out but might get one anyway.
The X5T Inova is perfect for shaking down a cell.

The light is sealed and water resistant to 50 meters. Never had a problem in the rain. I carry it exposed on my belt in a Blade Tech Kydex holster and the rain hasn't been a problem yet. The ergonomics allow a very positive grip so I'm not worried about dropping it, even when I'm switching modes.

    Valor55,

I'm wondering if you've ever used the stobe option on the Gladius to aid in controlling a suspect - can you comment on how effective this was? Also, what lumens rating would be at the very bottom when considering an LED? Anyone use the Pelican M6 3w (LED)?
