I have used the strobe feature during night time searches of houses, business, schools, and churches. It is very effective and still gives the user a great deal of light to see with.Originally Posted by arclight943

I used the strobe while covering him but I don't think it made much difference with him climbing out and being grabbed and cuffed on the ground.
During searches other officers have been curious and asked me to light them up with it. I have also asked to see the effects. Even with just a few seconds the effect is crazy. Your vision gets completely screwed up and the blinking turns into kind of a pulsing that you can't see through. It's nearly involuntary to slam your eyes shut. Even if you forced them open the pulsing effect of the light washes out all features of the environment and it is almost impossible to even tell where the source is.
I am completely confident that anyone who was armed would not get an aimed shot off with that strobe in their eyes. They might get some wild shots off but there is no way they could aim anything.
I've noticed at the 80-90 lumens that the Gladius comes in with it is slightly less bright than a streamlight. I wouldn't go with any less light personally.
