    Which handcuffs should I get?

After looking at the different handcuff sites on here I am still not finding an answer. I have seen the different option and am in limbo as where to go. Is chained or hinged better (depends on the situation, right)? Which brand is better (S&W, Peerless, ASP, Hiatt, etc.)?

I need as much feedback as possible before buying a pair. Thanks

First of all, if your LE I suggest buying 2 pairs. I personally reccomend Smith & Wesson model 1 cuffs. They fit anyone from skinny wrists to fat wrists and anywhere in between. Hinged or chained is a matter of personal preference. Hinged can be more difficult to get on somebody with thick wrists.
If you are not a LEO or Security Gaurd I suggest getting your equipment here.

Depends on what you want to spend and how much you value your life.

If you want a cuff to malfunction or worse break because you purchased a 12 dollar cheapie then ok.

Buy Hiatts or Smith & Wesson. Definately go 2 pair, usually officers use one hinged and one chained.

I prefer Hyatts because of the reset function (can't remember what you call it now). I don't know if the other companies have it or not. My set is all black Hyatt hingecuffs. I love em.

Michiganstud is almost correct. You should have one hinge, one chain but I would also suggest the heart shaped style for off duty.

Another thing you have to look at is which one does your department allow? We are not allowed to carry hinged cuffs. If you aren't a cop yet I would wait and see before I spend any money on it. If you are already then forget everything I have just said.

Out of curiosity, what is the reason why your dept won't let you carry hinged?

What ever kind you go with hinged or not, the only brands I would use are Smith & Weson or peerless. They are the top of the line and the industry standard.

My vote's for the Smith & Wesson. I carry two pairs, one hinged and one chained. I have had the chained pair for ten years and they just keep getting smoother. I use the hinged if someone's being uncooperative, I feel it gives me better control after I get one cuff on, doesn't let them squirm around quite as much either.

I'll stick with my Peerless chained. I have some S&W chained, but they're very stiff. Personally I don't like the hinged because they eliminate some arrest techniques that I use at times.

Anybody use the new ASP cuffs yet? I like the idea of having the keyhole on both sides. Plus the stylish two tone color will go with anything your perp is wearing!

I'm issued & use Hiatts rigidcuffs and 2010's. If you can't get/or don't want to use hiatts but want to try rigidcuffs RRB rapid cuffs They is made in the USA from S&W cuffs.

I was actually thinking of buying a pair of those, just for that nice little feature. They would be a backup pair though..
