When do you choose your gun? also what kind of firearms are we allowed to carry?

Usually during the first week, depends on class size. I picked mine the second day, that was back in 1980 when we still had revolvers. Choices now are, Glock 19, S&W 5946 and a Sig 22? Last I heard the Sig was on the way out, AGAIN, but you would have to confirm that. Rumors regarding the S&W M&P replacing the 5946, well, they are just that. They still have a problem digesting our ammo. Actually, the sub compact has the problem, they fixed the duty gun, but they won't approve just one, they want both on/off duty package, go figure...only in the NYPD.

Basher is right on. I did mine on day two also. SIG 226.

Second day in the academy as a recruit....but you don't get it till you graduate.
