    NYPD Interest

Sorry I am new to this not sure where I should post this so I am posting it twice.

I am interested in joinging the NYPD. I am 24, I have 60+ credits very clean record except one small glitch. When I was 21 I was charged with DUI. Case was Nolle Prosequi. How much is this going to hurt me during the hiring process? I reside in Baltimore now, reason for joining NYPD is because my fiance is taking a teaching position in NY for the pay increase. I have tried a very minor drug before nothing serious or a cronic use. Give me your input I would be very appreciative.

    Thanks

DWI is a HUGHE is with the NYPD. You will have problems in the psych with such on your record. Good luck!

Thanks Joey I am glad to get a response from you. You seem very knowledgable when it comes to the NYpD. One last thing how Long do I have to wait before I apply?

You won't get hired with a DUI within 5 years.....processing is at 2 years now....so you can apply now. Even at 5 years out....you may or may not overcome such. It all depends on what you say, how you say it and what the psychologist really thinks of you.

So what do I do if I apply now and get an early call. This may will be four years since the incident. Does the department go by the date of sentencing or the date it took place?

You have ZERO chance of an early call. ANd trust me....the 5 years between is a minimium and again....it all depends on what you say, how you say it and what the psychologist really thinks of you about this matter. Your chances for a DQ are higher than pass.

I am saying right now you at at 60% chance of a "no" and it can go to a yes depending the rest of your history and how you present it/yourself to the psychologist.

Joey is there a way we can have a private chat? Does the site have an IM? I just have a ton of questions that would only take about tens minutes if you had the time
