what patrol vehicles do you prefer?

This thread is mostly for current and retired police officers. I would like to know what kind of patrol vehicles you like the best and why. I have personally driven in 3 different types of police vehicles but I wasn't actually behind the wheel. Two of those three I guess you could say are common and they are the Ford Crown Victoria and the Chevrolet Impala. The other was a dodge Durango. Of the three I like the impala the best. Although I cannot make the decision because I haven’t had the opportunity to drive any of them so that is why I’m asking you. Feel free to add any vehicles to the thread (Chevy Tahoe and Dodge Charger)!

I have driven the police version of the Explorer, Impala, Charger, Crown Vic and Caprice. Crown Vic wins hand down! Thing was a tank and drove like a beauty! Was fast when needed and could push even the Ford pick-ups when stalled in traffic. Had a lot of room inside and was a blast in the snow. Plus if needed, you could fit a cop in the trunk comfortably (so you could get 6 cops in that thing to a call).
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

One thing that I always liked about the Crown Victoria is its famous engine sound. If you’re a police officer you have to know what I’m talking about.

since i can't post URLs i'll just give you the link (Crown Vic Engine Sound)

The newer Ford Interceptors are nice and much better than the Impalas. Several guys have the chargers and love them except for the lack of trunk space. My favorite vehicle of all time was the 94 Caprice with the LT1 engine. That thing was a tank with the turning radius of a pickup truck but made the ford engine sound like a kitten purring. I would like to try out the new caprice when it gets here, it looks very promising.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

Wow it sounds like your department is quite fortunate! The department where I’m an explorer was lucky to get its first Tahoe early last month LOL. There fleet consists of Impalas and Durango's. It angers me to see smaller town PDs with dodge chargers that could take them across the whole town in no time (I’ve learned that from the Deputys + it makes sense.). Also I like the look of the new Chevy Caprice but I have the feeling I’ll never ride in one.

The 94-95-96 Caprice with the LT-350 V8 was a running machine. I was in a pursuit and did 33 miles in 19 minutes.

I have yet to drive the new Caprice but with the 6.0 , 355 hp V8 , it will be a rocket. They also will have the 3.8 V6 @ 306 hp.

Same with the new Taurus. Standard will be the 3.8 V6 @ 265 hp and the twin turbo 3.8 @ 365 hp. The turbo model will be VERY expensive and require extra maintenance and is not going to be very popular.

Same with the Charger. 5.7 hemi at 370 HP or the new 3.6 Pentastar V6 @ 285 hp.

From days of old....I had a 1970 Super Bee with a 440 V8 out of a Polcie car in it and with a cam and a shift kit , it SHOOK with power. But that was 1980 and gas was .59 a gallon.

    Yep, those rocked.

I am spoiled, however, by the Tahoe LE package. Never felt safer in a police vehicle than I do in it. And, you have to be careful to watch your speed as you can hit 130 mph without even realizing it.

I went through a photo radar on I-10 once at 129 mph. I had the urge to flip off the camera van for the shoot, but restrained myself.

Every car should have a trunk monkey.

This whole thread sounds like a foreign language to me. As I've admitted before, mechanical issues of any type are a real weakness of mine. But that's the only weakness I'll admit to.

    New Kid on the block

? Has anybody yet seen the Carbon Motors E7? Beautiful car, a little bit of a risk though... New company. By the time I'm out of field training and the academy, unfortunately the Crown Vic's will be extinct

    How about doing an intro!

...also, assuming my reading comprehension is up to a 6th grade level (sometimes I wonder), it looks like you are saying you are an officer. Get verified. RP does not allow people to claim LEO status without being verified. We take pride in making sure there is little doubt that when an officer/agent claims to be an LEO, they really are.

I guess your comprehension isn't up to par in this case because I never suggested I was a L.E.O. P.A. stands for police aide, and you sound like a grammar cop to me.

This is what I was referring to (the bold is a clue). I am a MOD, so consider it a clue newbie... go do an intro, play nice, or you will be shown the door.

...and note the Verified tag. I police a lot more than grammar.
