I heard somewhere that all police crusiers must have steel wheels.
Do they also have to have automatic transmissions?
Do these rules apply to unmarked cars?
Do these rules apply to seized vehicles used by the police?

BIG may be wrong, but he believe most want their vehicles to have four doors, lights and to actually run. But BIG could be wrong.

On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL
Ours are required to have:
Fast food wrappers
No fuel
Dubious stains
Things in the boot (trunk!) that bang about

 Wow, you mean they're supposed to have standards?
State Regulations and equipped as per Dept. Rules and Regs.
Here they must have a siren, blue lights (no red here unless public safety) and atleast one flashing amber light ( no matter how small) to the rear...
We have no regulations per say at my department...
Automatics are a "standard" (but not required by state law) as for I know but just make more sense.. because there is nothing harder than going through and intersection, changing gears and changing your siren tones while calling a chase on the radio..
Also the part about the stuff in the trunk that makes a bunch of noises.... That part is a regulation i think lol... Mine sounds like two elephants getting it on while banging pots and pans together..
Don't forget the mandated crunchy grayish brown stuff in between the keys of the MDT.
Don't try and outweird me, I find weirder things than you in my breakfast burrito.

There are no real standards for us, though I don't recall seeing a manual transmission yet.
We've had some real beaters. You could go anywhere in them... and speed/durability was not the issue when you "sneak" up on people.I remember having a 7 year old, yello Cadillac Deville with a blue cloth top... I was damn near invisible in that thing. However, the troopers kept stopping me on the way home... I could never figure out why. LOL

. . . damn, I think the same guy wrote our "Standards" but he added used Prelim Breath Test straws (mouth pieces) . . . I don't think he like the color of our floor mats and wanted them totally covered.
. .as for the MDTs, ours a fairly new, so I guess I can look forward to that. :p
