USMS Sit and Reach Test

So I'm about to graduate college and I was told by a US Marshal Service recruiter that a hiring exam is going to be in the Spring 2011. I recently hit my ETS date from the National Guard and I'm trying to transition from the Army PT test to the USMS physical fitness test. The only thing I'm having an issue with is the sit and reach. I want to measure my progress at home but I don't have the sit and reach box to do so. I want to just simply measure it with a tape but I'm not sure how far down on the tape to put the bottom of my feet to get an accurate measurement. Any help is appreciated.

First of all, how about an intro! You just throwing your questions out, like we are sitting here eagerly awaiting your arrival, is like walking into someone's house and just rattling off questions without introducing yourself. You wouldn't do that, so why do it on here. Had you taken a moment to check out the site, you would see that there are guidelines that direct you to do an introduction first.

Number 2, don't post the same question more than once. Pick a place and ask it once. Again, this is poor form.

Finally, I am a USMS fit instructor. Do an intro and maybe I will tell you how many inches the yardstick hangs over the box.

If you can touch the wall, you are sitting right at 16". Also, the 3 core tests are where the emphasis is placed... push-ups, sit-ups and run.

It's about common courtesies, which it seems you are lacking. No one is forcing you to stay here, so feell free to move on. Otherwise, try to understand that it's a private site and we can make any rules that we wish. The TOS here is in place to promote an environment that is more condusive to a courtious exchange of information. Continue to complain about the place and we can show you the door.

So about an inch and a half past my feet is the minimum for the 20-29 age group? If that's the case I'm at about 19". I'm in the excellent range on all of the other events, but flexibility is certainly not my area of strength. Now I have a reference to work from. Thanks again for the information

This may seem like a stupid question, but when doing the sit-ups do you have someone holding your feet?
