    14 Workout?

Hey guys I'm overweight for my age I'm 14. (I don't know my weight but I'am fat). I'm not obese or anything just looking to lose 20 or so pounds so I can be thin for when I join the explorers (I don't want to be fat in the police explorers.). My mom already goes to the gym everyday, and just asked if I wanted to go. I'm going to go, but I need some suggestions on what I should concentrate on the most. I have absolutely no muscle whatsoever so I'm thinking I should do cardio and weight training. I'm sick of being fat. Let me know.

At your age, loads of cardio and light weights.

Before recruit training I was not a runner and could hardly make it around the track without stopping. I hit two hundred and thirty pounds before the end of my senior year, but dropped the weight after joining the military leaving RTC at one hundred and seventy pounds. It is important to set goals and not become discouraged. Running has turned into a huge stress reliever and I feel the huge personal difference both emotionally and physically after a long distance run/jog. Recently I have stopped drinking soda along with most sources of caffeine. If you can avoid it and opt for water or sport drink after a run you should see a positive effect over the next couple of weeks.

UPDATE: Along with the 2.5 miles, I started weights. I did the abdominal crunch machine, flys, bicep curlups, ect. Thanks all!

I'm assuming you are running on a treadmill? Just be advised that treadmill running and regular running are not the same. If possible you may want to go to a track to run or even local sidewalks/streets/whatever is safe.

I do 1.5 miles on the elliptical machine, and 1 mile on the treadmill.
    I'm just some kid.
