    Damn! That is A LOT of posturing going on there. I still haven't heard anything to back it up. There are a TON of body weight WODs (as I don't want to be called unfair for dpoing the heavier ones that I like) out there that would work great for a challenge. In fact, I just did a few this week at the hotel... a nice tabata with handstands push-ups (you can mod them to regulars, if you like), double unders (you can do single jump roping, if yu prefer) and sit-ups. I had a nice burpee, push-up, squat WOD too.

    ...and you are right about how common certs are, but my k-mart door prize has served me pretty well so far. It's kind of like basic DUSM school. It's what you make of it. There'll be plenty of POSes out there in a few years who were standing next to you in class.

    You can follow the wod on the main site (Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness) or any number of great crossfit affiliate sites. I did it for over a year before a gym opened near me. Because I travel so much, I still do it on my own very often.

    I have finished my first week going to a Crossfit gym. It makes a huge difference over doing it on your own. Great people, and great workouts. The best thing for me is that I explained what I was doing and what I was wanting, and they tailored me an AM workout before I go in at night. I also like the extensive warmup that can also be considered a workout.

    It is a bit expensive, but so far worth every penny. Today is my day off, which is good because I am sore.
    For me, before there was the Thin Blue Line, there was the Blood Stripe! Semper Fi!

    **DISCLAIMER** I'm not a current LEO, but have six years experience with two city PD's in NC and TX as a sworn officer. I'm in the process of returning to LEO work ASAP.

    Now I'm up to Running/ Field Work in the AM and Crossfit at night. It is making a big difference. I'm pretty broke most of the time, but it is making noticeable improvements. I still think this is the best thing I could have done!

    One problem: I'm not that flexible in my back and shoulders. This makes the overhead squats pretty difficult. Definitely need to focus on my flexibility!

    Do shoulder dislocates twice a day and practice really light overhead squats as part of your warm-up each day.

    Take PVC or a long brrom stick. Grab it wide in front of you and rotate it over your head and behind you, while holding onto the pipe/stick. Bring it back to the front. Now, slide your hands in slightly and repeat. Continue to do so until you cannot get it to rotate behind you.
