    Board Fitness Challenge

Anyone interested in having one, or more regularly depending on the participation?
    I argue on the internet.

I've grown bored with fitness and that's why I should win the challenge.

    Thank you,

Im not a runner b/c I'm 250lbs 38 years old and have arthritis all over the place but I'm doing a little running right now to get my base up for my one run a week maintance. So my suggestion is the 1.5 mile run but we can go pushups, situps, dumbell snatches for time whatever anyone wants to do. I'm a big rosstraining.com fan so we can do any of his challenges.
    I argue on the internet.

While I am not supposed to run, but I can do the 1.5 mile challenge. I have a fit test coming up and the doc said they are ok. As for anything else, just toss it out there. I'm game. You have me by a few pounds, as I float between 205 and 210... and hitting 37 real soon.

Well obviously I'm not getting much of a response but most cops hate to workout anyway. So I'm going to change this to personal challange. It will run from 3/1 to 9/1 and can be anything you want to improve.

I want to run the 1.5 mile in under 11:00 and front squat 305 for 10 reps.

Six months seems like a long time but you can re-do your goals any time during that time period if you make them early. But six months allows for vacations, injuries and all that. It does require dedication.
    I argue on the internet.

Well I am 37 which makes us around the same age.

I am thinking something like 50 225Ibs deadlifts followed by 100 burpees for a challenge.

I know after 50 DLs you should be breathing heavy and then taking on 100 burpess Ross Enamait style -- squat thrust to a pushup to a jumping squat hands clapping above head...

There was just a heavy DL day on crossfit, I am going to do this after the next one or maybe sooner...

    Any thoughts?

Sounds good to me although it's too much for me personally. I've done both challenges seperately with the DL being BW, 255lbs, and I did the burpees in around 8min on the Sherdog challenge but I couldn't do that now.
    I argue on the internet.

My running days, for anything but chasing someone, are long gone. Too much mileage. :D

Yeah, that is why I started crossfit. I had direct orders that my days of recreational running were done. Otherwise, I risked a surgery with a 6 month recovery time and a 50/50 chance of losing my career. So, as he put it, no more running unless I am running after someone or taking my fit test.

BIG's running days, recreational, ended on January 19, 1999. On that day BIG broke both is tibia & fibula, 1/4 inch below the knee. Two surgeries, a titanium plate with 5 matching 4 inch screws, arthritis, a wheel chair & a year relearning to walk, then run again later, BIG's recreational running days are long gone. :(

Kind of sad, considering BIG used to run a 19 minute 3 mile at 235, 240 pounds, in his Marine Corps' days.

I was a 400 hurdler in college and loved the trail running more recently. :(

I have yet to be outrun, though... even wearing hiking boots and all my gear.

I suggest that Big get a C2 rower as it's been the best money I've ever spent contioning wise.

I really only run about a day, sometimes twice a week. I say I don't chase BG's but I chased one just a couple of weeks ago and got into a fight with Mr. Going to Prison for lots of bad things. So about every five days, atleast two days after a leg day and two days before the next one I go to the park down the street and run two laps on the trail. The park is next to a ski resort so as you can expect the view is spetacular and and the hills are challenging. I get done in about 20min right now and I'll run it faster but not longer.

Mine was in March 2000 when I broke my right kneecap on a search warrant. Until then, I had been part of a club that used to meet at the office and go run four miles every morning. I've just never been able to rehab enough until lately to run consistently again, at which time, I found out I have bone spurs in my left foot.

I can still sprint from the other aerobic stuff I do, and can even go long distances a few times before the injured parts get their revenge. :D

I have just accepted that my running days are pretty much over.
