    Physical test in PA

    Hello all,

From looking through the forums I see that there are not many PA cops here but hopefully someone can answer this question. For the past month I have been training for the ACT 120. I started at running the mile in 18 minutes 48 seconds. I am now at 15 minutes flat. By the time I get to the test date I should be doing 12 minutes flat, but…. I’m not fully jogging the whole 1.5 miles. I have to jog/walk. MY legs are okay; just I’m so out of breath it’s awful.

So my question is, if I meet the requirements of 12 minutes flat but have to at least walk a portion of the test will that be a bad thing? The only answer I get from the place I’m going to is “Just keep running everyday till you take the test.”

I've been through the ACT 120 training and all of that fun stuff. Just like anywhere else, if you can make the time needed it's not going to matter if you have to stop for a short period of time. Don't kill yourself.

Just make sure you keep up your stamina by continuing to run. Good luck.

There is no requirement that you RUN the entire time but...all that means is you will have to run faster than most in order to be able to walk part of it.

Act 120 is PASS / FAIL. NO exceptions or waivers. You either pass or you do not. Below is the link to the PA statewide PAT standards.

Our hiring test is based on the 3oth percentile

The end of the acacemy test is based on the 50th percentile.

The end of the academy? I was under the impression that the test was taken before you even got into the academy. Which that test was in the 30th percentile. Or is that what you mean by hiring?

As part of hour hiring test , you must meet the 30th percentile requirements. This test must also be done within 6 months of going to the academy or you have to do it again.

By the end of the 5 month academy....you have to meet the 50th percentile standards.
