    Working Out Correctly?

I plan to apply with a PD after I garduate college. I know the requirement for the Physical Agility Test. I normally do all my exercise work out in the gym, but occasionally I do sprint around my neighborhood and my school's track. I have been told that working out on a tredmill but told not to do that because it doesn't prepare you to run in different types of weather. Is this true?

It is true. Treadmill or exercise bike with resistance is better than nothing, but you need to actually run. Most people run slower on a track than straight out. Running on a track is also mentally sucky. It takes practice missing potholes, etc. with your peripheral vision.

Yes it is true. Treadmills are very benifical for calorie buring and maintaining edurance. It is also less wear and tear on your joints and ligaments.

I read an article somewhere and I can't find it, but it basically states you need to put the treadmill on 1% incline to equate to running outside and the same speed.

If the weather is good you should be outside running. If you are training for a 1.5 mile a standard track a lot of your trainning should be on the track.

Mix it up with longer distance runs, recovery jogs, intervals runs, fartlek runs, and sprints.

Go to a running website for better tips.

I like the following sites for running: http://www.coolrunning.com/
