    Muscle burn

Okay, this isn't the typical "muscle burn" everyone talks about.

Randomly (sometimes exercising, sometimes sitting around doing nothing -- completely random), I will experience a "burning" sensation on my back, in my left shoulder blade area. It's always the same area.

It's not a burn as in lactic acid buildup. It literally feels as if someone is taking a hot item and placing it against my skin. I can't massage it away, scratch it away, or anything.

    Any ideas what this is?

Possibly dehydration cramps....what does your water intake look like and have you ever previously been a hot weather casualty?

Could be a muscle/nerve tear to like said above.

I'm pretty sure it's not a dehydration issue. I've had a few issues in the past, but my water intake is very high now. I have a 30 ounce bottle that I empty at least once every three hours, plus an extra one right before I exercise.

I didn't think about the nerve/rotator cuff issue. I suppose it could be. It's not really pain, it's just really hot.

I also don't know if it could be related to any of the supplements I've been taking - a green tea thermogenic thingy, and glucosamine + chondroitin.

If it gets worse or painful, I'll schedule an appointment to see the doc. As is, I guess I'll just see what happens, and mention it at my next physical.

Hey I get the same exact thing?! Always on my left shoulder blade too. I don't know what it is, but I think it might have something to do with the spine being out of alignment.

I don't hink it's your supps. seeing as how I don't take either one of those. But it comes and goes as it pleases, just nice to know someone else gets it too, I guess.

Lemme know if you figure anything out and I'll do the same.

I get that too. Normally sitting or laying in another position makes it go away.

I get it in my lower back once in awhile and it is due to the sciatic nerve being affected by whatever. It sounds like you might have a similar situation except a different nerve of course. The best thing I ever did for my back pain was to see a massage therapist. My insurance actually covers it so I was going once a week for an hour and only paying $9 out of pocket and I will tell you, I never felt better. I have not been to one in a couple years and I can really tell. I am in the process of getting back into shape and will start seeing one again. Might be worth a try.

That would make perfect sense because that would likely put pressure on a nerve that would cause the burning or other pain in the affected area. Like in my previous post, I highly recommend massage therapy and in the case of spinal misalignment, couple that with chiropractic care. Do the message first then immediately see the chiropractor while your muscles are still nice and loose and it make for a more effective session of bone cracking...lol
