Energy before workouts
Hey everyone, *semi long post*
At times I have the most unpredictable schedule when it comes to work. Not only am I constantly on call to cover shifts, but my schedule always changes, I go to school as well, and I like to still have some form of social life haha.
So my workout routine gets jumbled up a bit. I try to keep it to alternating running and weights every other day with a rest day during the week. However lately, Ive just have not had the energy or motivation.
Ill have the energy at the worst times. Either sitting in the patrol car or at class, all I can think of is that Im bouncing off the walls and want to run. Then I get home and I just crash. I have no energy to get out and workout.
My sleep is average. Ill get anywhere from 6 to 9 hours depending on the day. I've tried energy supplements from nutrition stores, or even over the counter energy drinks as well. However, thanks to midnight shifts and a plethora of other reasons, energy drinks/caffeine has little effect on me anymore.
My diet is also balanced. I eat probably 60-70% carbohydrates, and alot of them early in the day. I eat plenty of chicken and lean meat, and protein shakes. Fruits and veggies make it in as well. No junk food except on rare occasions where I just go nuts and eat my body weight in smores...
Is there something else I should try. Any supplements? Any combination of the things listed above?
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to make sure all the variables were covered. I now return you to your regularly scheduled RP programming. :D
