    Question Torn-Rotator Cuff

This is probably a question better adressed to my doctor, but perhaps someone on here has expirienced a similar problem....

A few weeks ago I tore the rotator cuff in my shoulder in an accident. It's slowly improving but I am probably looking at weeks, maybe months before it's back 100%. Before the accident, I had been doing a lot of strength training, working a lot with my arms and I don't want to lose too much of the progress I have made with that. Anyone ever have this type of injury and know of any good excercises that isn't likely to aggravate the shoulder?

Have your doctor recommend an physical therapist. I would NOT exercise before I had it cleared on what I could do.

I had a torn Labrum which is similar in symptoms to a rotator cuff. The tear was in a place that it would NOT heal on it's own. They had to surgically re-attach it together in order for it to heal.

The muscles and ligaments around the rotator cuff help hold the joint in place and with a tear, allow it to get " out of jointz' easier. Read that as a dislocation.

I am not aware of this healimg on it's own but then I am not a doc. My one shoulder was an injury from 1982 and I finally thouight I should do something about it. The original diagnosis was a rotator cuff. ( in 1982).

Both of my labral tear surgeries were out-patient , I was in and out in 4 hours. One was atrhroscopic and the other wasn't. BIG difference in recovery time. !!
