How is it that after about 6 weeks of busting my *** I went from being ale to do 25 pushups in a minute to 10 This was after a sufficient warmup and 3 days rest prior to... what the hell is going on!

Seriously guys, this is frustrating beyond belief. The only possible explanation I can come up with is that over that time period my muscles have grown a lot and I've lost a lot of flexibility in them. Does that make any sense/ sound feasible?
I can't actually answer this with any authority.
My recent excercise regimine involves elbow bends and Kiester Kamping, followed shortly thereafter with a thourough Interior Eyelid Systems check done to the soothing sounds of "Escape S8".
If this is a singular occurance, I wouldn't sweat it. If it recurs, I'd see a Dr. since it may be a sympton of something much larger.

i'm not an expert but something like this happened to me recently. i topped out at 23 and began peforming push ups daily. after three weeks i tried a max effort again and did 13. WTF? my first thought was that i may be overtrained. so, i refrained from any pushing exercises for a week and concentrated on everything else (i only do bodyweight exercises). after the week i went for it again and hit 35! :D exactly what i was hoping for. your issue may be a result of overtraining. i have learned that high volume is something that i just can't handle and i really do best with sets of low numbers (nowhere near failure) done consistently. the same may or may not work for you but try it out.
I'm no expert either, but if you are working out everyday I would stop. Try every 2 or 3 days and give you muscles time to work themselves out. Another thing I tried, just do 10 at a time for a while, but do it several times a day. Anytime you get a chance to drop down and give yourself 10, try it.
One Big Ass Mistake America
Okay, on a serious note. As others have mentioned in here, you could have simply suffered muscle exhaustion from not allowing proper and most important rest periods.
When you exercise, you are stressing and making microscopic separations, tearing if you will, of the muscle fiber. When the muscle rests and heals, the small separations are repaired and almost act like scar tissue, making the muscle larger. You have to get those rest periods in.
You could have also simply had a down day based on sleep, proper energy intake (diet) or suffered a mental block.
This is no biggie, but my best bet is you need better rest periods.
This career is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
You are overtraining. Your muscles grow when you are at rest, not when you are working out. If you work your arms hard, I mean really tax them out, you don't need to work them more than once a week.
If you are training for push-ups, sit-ups & running...FOCUS ON THOSE EXERCISES. Train for the test.
You can improve your push-ups in the gym if you know what you're doing. No offense, but that does not seem to be the case.
Do pushu-ups & sit-ups every other day. Run hard every other day w/ other cardio mixed in.
I can get you a decent push-up/sit-up routine, but it may have to wait a couple days until I make it back home.

Don't Count, have someone else watch you and count silently and tell you how many you did later. A lot of the challenge is mental.

Warming up may have been the problem. I can rattle off 100 push ups pretty quick. If I do a complete set of bench press and then go to push ups (which I do) I am only good for 25-30 at a time.
If you're not that strong/conditioned maybe warming up first hurt you, depending on how much you warmed up of course.
What kind of warm up did you do?

I wanna see proof of this... a video would be best.
The best I've ever done on pushups was 57 in a minute and I was over 200 lbs at the time.

70 in a minute is not really a big deal if you work a little at it. The same can be said for pull-ups... but few people actually work on pull-ups.
